Up to 250,000 vehicles recalled by Honda
A number of drivers in Japan and one in America have reported a fault whereby a vehicle can suddenly stop without the driver even touching the brake pedal. Honda have stated that the problem lies in defects within the electronics; specifically the vehicle's stability-assist system wiring.
The fault is not isolated to a single model. Known affected models include the Acura MDX, Acura RL, Pilot, Legend, Odyssey, Elysion and StepWgn. Vehicles that may be affected by the defects will have been manufactured between 2004 and 2006. As far as region of manufacture is concerned, 183,000 US cars are being recalled, along with 56,000 from Japan, 8,000 from Canada, 1,000 from Australia, and 300 from Mexico and 70 from Germany.
Any owners of Honda vehicles who may be worried about faults with their vehicle can check their car for recall notices at Honda's website. However, at time of writing, their online check service was temporarily unavailable.
