Toyota recalls more vehicles in the UK
The affected models this time are Verso-S and Yaris, with 5,409 of these located in the UK, with around another 170,000 affected worldwide. The recalled vehicles were manufactured between November 2010 and March 2012. This time the issues that have cropped up involve possible malfunctions in the vehicles' power steering system.
Verso-S and Yaris models affected by this will exhibit a 'heavyness' in the steering, especially obvious at lower speeds. Such vehicles may also show a warning on the instrument display panel. So far no injuries or accidents resulting from the fault have been reported anywhere in the world, but four faults have been recorded in the UK at time of writing.
If you think your vehicle may be affected by the recall, you can easily check via Toyota's website. Toyota's procedure when dealing with recalls is to always offer free repairs at nearby Toyota dealerships, with work taking only a couple of hours to complete on average.
Toyota has an unfortunate history with recall campaigns. Only last month around 233,000 Prius hybrids were recalled worldwide, and nearly 7.5 million Toyota vehicles were recalled in 2012 due to faults in electronics controlling power windows. 2009 and 2010 also saw sweeping recalls, this time to remedy faulty brake parts.
