Thousands more vehicles recalled by Toyota
The recall affects 369,000 vehicles in total throughout the world; the largest amount of cars recalled by Toyota so far this year.
A problem in the hybrid system is thought to affect the bulk of the recalled vehicles, 200,000 in total. The fault with the hybrid system could theoretically cause alarms to sound in the vehicle, and also more importantly stop it running. This issue has been said to affect the Lexus RX400 and Toyota Highlander SUV, as well as a couple of Japanese models - the Kluger and the Harrier.
The rest of the recalled cars, totaling 169,000 vehicles, are thought to be plagued with a problem affecting an engine bolt. The fault could result in loose bolts in the engine, which in turn will cause a stall. The fault is said to affect more Lexus models again, the IS350 and GS350, along with the Toyota Mark X and Toyota Crown.
Toyota states that the faults have so far not caused any accidents, and offer free repairs to all affected vehicle owners at Toyota dealerships near them. Should you think your vehicle may be affected by the recall, you can check at Toyota's website.
