At the end of the day, the final cost of purchasing a Canyon from GM may be a few thousand dollars less than other makes; however, all you are buying at that price point is a truck, meaning its build quality is determined by the quality of other truck brands such as Freightliner (the factory for all of the GMC's, CUCARES, Yukon's, and Trailblazers was in fact a Freightliner plant, as was the assembly plant where the GMC Savana, Canyon, etc., used to be produced) and Peterbilt (who manufactures the Titan, and in turn, the Canyon).

However, the same quality is not always true when you compare the make and model. The reason for this difference in cost is that the cost of building a truck (the actual "making" process) is what the cost is on the final product.
