Does Gulf Stream make a good travel trailer?
Do they still make Gulfstream motorhomes?
Does anyone still make a motorhome today? A motorhome used to be the name of the car campers that towed behind a big motor-van styled vehicle you had probably seen in the US 50s/60s. It is now called the fifth wheel as it is still quite a popular product still in the RV world.
Well when I got interested in buying a 5th wheel they weren't making them and many of the old trailer based brands were under new ownership. Today, with the 5th wheel industry being somewhat fragmented and there being other brands that are better, a buyer needs to have some research done on current models and be aware of their drawbacks compared to the competition. One of these drawbacks is a 5th wheel motorhome that needs an engine for use on the road, as does a truck camper. While it is often more expensive than the alternatives (which doesn't mean it is not the right thing to do) buying one is often the only way to get what you want. Also getting in on the ground floor is often how you save more money.
I purchased my fifth wheel from a dealer who went out of business in 2024 and bought all the remaining inventory and assets from the other dealer in the area in 2024. There are still lots of new 5th wheels on the market, even on the used market here.
The company I bought mine from was called E & D RV and they are now defunct. The previous owner (who bought mine from them) and others in the industry are still pretty concerned about this and there have been multiple cases going back to at least the early 2000s. Even though I know I would have never been cheated they still feel like they haven't been fully compensated for what they think they could potentially end up with.
This situation may eventually change if the IRS steps up and puts them all in one court. But until then you can't trust anything your are given as a selling price.
For someone looking at getting a new fifth wheel, knowing all these details before you do is important. It is very important to know where the manufacturer is based and any past issues the manufacturer may have had.
There are lots of new brands that just started making RVs, often without all the history of the company.
Who makes Gulfstream BT Cruiser?
The Gulfstream G200 BT, first introduced in 2024, is a compact mid-sized business jet with a very impressive list of features for its size and weight. But who makes it? After its unveiling, the Gulfstream G200 took off like a rocket to the number one spot in our Top 100 Business Jets. The next question was, where did it come from?
It came from Florida. Gulfstream Aerospace's headquarters are at Lakeland-Hillsborough International Airport (KLHP) in Lakeland, Florida. And although it was founded in 1979, it only started producing aircraft in 2024.
Since then, the company has been making the G200, along with the G280, G450 and G500 business jets. The company has a facility on the south side of Lakeland in Plant #5, which will be dedicated to the G500 by the end of 2024.
Gulfstream Aerospace, Inc. Was founded by a group of investors, including entrepreneur Paul E. Bowers, who helped found and eventually sold his own company called ESM Inc. In 1970. That company was formed with the intention of manufacturing advanced electronic components, and later a high-speed computer systems. Bowers also acquired control of a firm called Aerospatiale SA in 1988, which later became part of the EADS conglomerate that is now known as Airbus.
In 1979, Gulfstream began developing and building the G140, a two-seat commuter jet designed to comply with US rules for flight under visual flight rules (VFR) between 400 and 7,200 feet above sea level (ASL). This was not an easy feat, as it only met the minimum requirements of certification without any advanced avionics, such as fly-by-wire and fly-by-light (FBW-FBV). This was because FAA regulations at the time only allowed for so-called "sophisticated" avionics, meaning those with three or more independent circuits.
To address these rules, Gulfstream built a special computer system called the "Fusion System," which was developed at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC). It used IBM computers and a unique operating system to perform all the navigation and flight control functions.
By 1980, Gulfstream had secured contracts with four major airlines for their G140s.
Who makes Gulf Stream Coach?
Originally posted by rickthesmallonegle. ? They are the brand name of the company that builds the coaches. Gulfstream, is the parent company. They're not a coach brand like Rolls or Land Rover is. They make a coach in the same way Porsche builds a car.
The GSC name is used because it's a good name for people to think "Coach builder GSC name" when they read it in the press. That's all it does.
As a side note, I had a friend who lived in Florida and he went to meet a friend who was moving to Florida from Texas to buy a new coach. The friend in Texas asked him if he would look after his new coach.
After they returned home, the other Texas guy called me up and started explaining the situation to me over the phone. He explained that the new driver thought that because the other guy had lived in Florida all his life, that his new coach needed to be well kept and cared for. So he had asked his father to do that for him.
So, the guy from Texas was driving an older GSC coach that looked very nice, and then he stopped at a gas station along the highway and the new driver stopped the vehicle. As the old driver was getting out of the vehicle, he got hit on the head and died instantly. The passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured. The driver left the vehicle and didn't call 911 until the police got there.
I don't know what kind of a person drives an old, beat-up used coach in a highway accident. If I was the passenger of that vehicle, I would think "Hey, why isn't anyone helping this person?" So what happened to the driver of the vehicle? He was arrested for leaving the scene of a deadly accident and he killed a man. It's sad how things work sometimes. The guy that bought the new coach from the other driver? I have seen Gulf Stream coaches come off line at the dealership a few times. No other Gulf Stream makes that model. I have also seen some GSC used coaches on road trips on the east coast of the US that would make a trip from NYC to Key West for example. Very long journeys but you could use that type of coach as an alternative to renting a van or limo.
Does Gulf Stream make a good travel trailer?
I have seen the new Gulf Stream model. I like the look of it but I'm trying to determine if it makes a good travel trailer. I know some people like them, some people hate them. If someone knows one of the new models I would appreciate it if you could tell me how they like or dislike them.
Re: Gulf Stream makes a good travel trailer? I think they are nice, I didn't get to test drive one yet but my husband did. We also got a second hand one from another dealer at a reduced price. So far we are happy with the purchase. I would also add in that you should always take a test drive when you get to your dealership to see what you think of the vehicle. They are all different so you will need to decide for yourself.
You are aware of the fact that most RVs are in an entirely different category than traditional campers. RVs are not considered to be "just" campers. A travel trailer has a specific purpose, and most trailers don't fit that purpose very well. That's why they sell at such a low price, because a traditional camper can be very well equipped for it's purpose.
On the other hand, RVs can be a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors, and many people do just that. They can also be used for business. Most people I know who have RV's use them for those purposes.
As a side note, I like the look of the new GSF. It's a nice looking vehicle.
We're about to spend 3-4 days in the mountains at a place called Rockville Campground. I already have the perfect spot picked out. I was hoping that this was a travel trailer type place. It looks like a park and pull type setup. I will be living out of the car to save a bit of money. I plan on buying a regular camper later.
I have a Gulf Stream Elite and I absolutely love it. I do not own an FH camper (yet) but my wife and I both love our GSF. I love the design, and how you can still get a full size bed, and at least get a pull out table.
