Solid sales predicted by BMW this year
The first nine months of 2012 have been the best for BMW sales year-on-year, with a total of 1,335,502 cars sold during this period. This is a 8.3 per cent increase over the same time in 2011. In September alone, the carmaker (who produce BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini vehicles) sold 177,716 units, which is an increase of 11.6 per cent over the same time last year.
Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW, Norbert Reithofer, commented: "We are targeting new highs in sales volume and pre-tax earnings for 2012 ... We are starting the new year with a full order book and a highly attractive model range. The BMW Group plans to grow faster than the market as a whole in 2012 and expects to achieve new sales volume records for its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands"
The BMW brand itself has sold 1,109,962 vehicles so far this year, which is a growth of 8.6 per cent over last year, with 146,843 of these sold in September, which itself was a massive increase of 14.3 per cent from the same month in 2011. Their total sales so far are about 13,000 more than their nearest rival Audi.
