BMW started production of it's luxury performance motorcycles in 1923 and it's cars started in 1928, although the company's history goes back to 1916 producing engines for aircraft.
Over the years BMW has had it's highs and lows. One thing that it has always been known for is it's solid engineering and the quality of it's products, whether these are of two wheeled or four. One notable purchase was that of the UK based Rover Group and all of it's trademarked names. That was in 1992 which it kept for 6 years, but due to the huge losses they sold it six years later, splitting up the large company and keeping some of it for itself.
This is where the new breed of Mini was born and is now a major success as was it's predecessor.
BMW goes from strength to strength with it's innovation and it's renowned engineering quality. The areas in particular that the company has played a major role are in road safety and in cleaning up the emissions of their cars.
