The new 2024 Ford Focus is a pretty good looking car, and there's still an open question as to whether or not Ford has finally solved the problems that have held back the Focus brand in the past. But one model in the 2024 line up is still a work in progress. The SE trim is a bit of an over kill, particularly in this world of fuel efficiency, but its still got some issues that Ford needs to iron out before it's fully ready to go. This post will look at what 2024 holds for the Ford Focus.

2012 - Is the New Focus an Evolution or a Revolution? The new 2024 Focus comes off the back of a relatively minor facelift. But this year's update brings some significant changes that give the focus a major step forward over 2024. Firstly, its better about being cheap. The 1.6 L engine and six-speed automatic transmission that were featured in the old 1.5 Taurus-derived 3 door model are gone. Instead they're been replaced by a 120 hp engine, 2.0 L engine, and a six-speed manual transmission. That engine and transmission combination is available with the new S-Coupe body style. The coupe itself will make its debut later this year, probably in time for the Christmas buying season.

The 2024 Focus is longer, wider and a few hundred grams lighter than its predecessor.5 L engine, which made 90 hp on par with its gasoline powered Ford equivalent, now makes 115 hp. While a bit lacking in power, this new engine and transmission is still capable of reaching 0-60 mph in a respectable 12.8 seconds, but the real selling point of the upgrade is improved economy. EPA estimates for the 2024 2.0 L engine range from 24 to 29 mpg. For all the hype around bigger is better we might as well not even consider a car like the Honda Fit for comparison purposes - because the new Focus is about as small and light as it gets. Its really almost comically large compared to it.

The exterior of the 2024 Focus doesn't really change much. The only substantial cosmetic change is the front grille, which is now much smoother and a smaller proportion of the overall grille than the old model. In terms of size, it's still smaller than the Honda Fit.

I only started to ask as they were asking a lot for an old build (only 3 years) and I was trying to get a good deal. On ebay (yes I did have a price drop on it). I am glad I asked though cos some people are really getting ripped off for one being a Mk3. (I am happy with my Mk1 because of the performance over the Mark3 which is still the same engine) And just for the record mine was a Mk1 I just forgot that from the photos it looks like the Mk3. It's not just a matter of buying an Mk3. You have to search long and hard for them to find a good one in its right condition. I think the MK3 is the worst looking version of the Focus ever!

Somebody made the observation that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice the MKIII models' bad looks compared to the first MKi model with its much improved appearance. But, if you are planning on selling your car privately later this year (or even next year, I expect), then look on eBay (where the Mk3 will be less rare than elsewhere). They tend to have lower, lower and lower private treaty fees, which would suit me.

However, if you bought your car as part of a package including a TV-box with full warranty for 1,200 - that was a very nice combination and I suspect that you could make some money for it - even though it would be a difficult sale to complete before Christmas. Maybe I'm thinking about selling it myself at some point, but I haven't yet.

It seems that nearly every publication, talk show, and advertiser is saying the same thing.

Now, that is not to say there are not other options out there, but if you are considering an electric car, you need to know that this is what you can expect in regards to the new battery electric model. In addition, we will briefly address other potential electric vehicles that might be on the market at the same time as the Focus.

This is because the car industry has come a long way since a 2024 electric car. It's time to compare different options and see which one is right for you.

Is the Ford Focus Mk3 a good car?

Our driving experiences with the Mk3 are a mixed bag. Sure, the Focus is fun to drive and has lots of space in its relatively small size. But its interior is not all that great, and its interior styling is downright dull. It seems to be just a retread of last year's model. With competition from the more attractive Fiat Panda, this is hardly likely to help Ford stand out in the marketplace.

But then you start noticing some things - like its ride and handling --that make this Focus a little better than most compact cars. We were able to put the 2024 Focus to the test as a full-size passenger car when we drove it from the Canadian border to Mexico's Baja California.

We know there's a lot of competition, but the new model is also likely to have a few surprises in the design, and probably some of the latest-generation technology, such as fuel economy and power enhancements.

On the other hand, Ford's compact cars have shown some clear improvement over their predecessors; the Fiesta seems a bit more refined and sporty. So if you buy a new Ford compact, you're looking at one of the most stylish or advanced models in a category that includes the Fiat 127, Volkswagen Golf, Honda Jazz and Mazda3.

The interior isn't what it used to be. Ford's compact cars always seem to have the same bland interiors, although this year's model offers something new, and it appears to be a bit better. In all of them, the centre-mounted steering wheel is surrounded by large, cheap-looking plastic buttons and controls. We'd guess that the cost savings can be significant.

Some critics say the best thing about the new Focus is that it isn't even a "minivan" anymore, and isn't even a "suburban vehicle." The new Focus has much more exterior space than last year's model - enough room for three seats, with plenty of legroom and shoulder room and a large cargo area behind the second row of seats. It also comes with all of the creature comforts a family would want, although that comes at a price: The price premium on the 2024 Focus is almost double that of other compact cars.

At night, the Focus looks very attractive with its bright orange and white design and chrome trim.
