I have a mk3 focus st which I really like and want to give it a good going over with a complete rebuild, but I cant find the spec for the engine. Does anyone know if there are any details online as to how much horsepower it makes? My reason for wanting to know is that my brother who has a mk4 Focus has a manual transmission, which is so bad for the car and I dont want that to be the case with mine. The current engine is the 3.0 V6 and it is a manual transmission, it has a 5 speed gearbox. I think you are talking about a 5speed automatic though

It's a 5 speed. I was hoping that it might have been a manual, but the fact that it's a 5 speed doesn't mean it's an automatic, you can still get the old gearbox and get a manual for it. Well he is saying its a 5 speed gear box, and if thats the case, its an automatic. Is that a Mk3 or Mk4? If it's the Mk3, it's the 3.0 V6 engine, whereas the Mk4s came with the 3.8 V6 engine.

If it's the Mk3, then it makes just 120 bhp which is quite decent for the size of the car. Its definitely a Mk4, even from the photos its very obvious. It has the same black front grille, bigger air intake, bigger bumpers etc.

That engine is the 3.0 V6, it produces just 120 bhp. My friend has a mk4 focus, the engine is a bit larger but the same rev limit, the 3.8 V6 in his car has 250 bhp, but he has a 6 speed automatic gear box.

We'll be measuring how fast the Focus ST3 can go so let's put some numbers to that. First of all, before you check the link you may want to know that what you're about to read will not only put your eyes out, it'll also make you weep. And then, when you're done Well, you'll wonder how you ever lived without our knowledge.

If we do our calculations, based on this specific model and it's claimed numbers, the actual top speed is a good 210 km/h. This number represents the 'best-case' scenario of our testing. The figure has been taken from the company's literature and it shows an almost four-second average 0-100 km/h acceleration time for this particular ST3.

So What's the problem? Well, the reality of the matter is were unable to achieve the claimed 'top-end' figure. Our test car came up with an average 0-100 km/h time of 9.3 seconds.

The Toyota Focus is one of the best-selling compact cars in Australia, and the only model to break through the 1 million sales barrier in 2025. The 2025 model year is set to get even bigger, with a new range of engines that will include an 'eco'-conscious 1.6L turbo petrol engine that will be mated to the tried-and-true and much-loved five-speed manual transmission. In the standard Focus, the 1.6L engine is good for around 123kW and 160Nm of torque.

Price and features. Price is something that comes down to personal preference. That means the Focus RS will be more expensive than a Toyota Yaris 1.

So, we're going to recommend you go for the standard Focus. It has a smaller power output, but it's cheaper, more versatile, and less powerful. The RS is obviously aimed at enthusiasts, while the standard Focus is ideal for everyday use.
