How much does a M2 Freightliner weigh?

Does a M2 weigh the same as a M1 (which we have done)? What do you think of the M2 as a new concept over the M1? We are very interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks for all the input already! I'm afraid I have no idea on weight. They do seem to be quite similar in appearance. As I understand it, the M1 is going to be the full-fledged M2 with a 4-cylinder engine (a Ford Duratec) and a 4-speed auto. I think it has a 3.5:1 rear axle, while the M2 will have a 4:1. I'm not sure if that would make a significant difference.

It certainly looks like a great truck for the money. I would imagine it would haul about the same amount of cargo as a conventional 2-man crew cab with the larger bed. Of course it's not a conventional truck, but I can't see it offering a huge advantage over the old single-drive, single-cab 4-runner types. If you like driving big rigs, I would consider looking at one.

You said that it looks like it weighs less than the M1 (which we know it does). But since it is a completely different truck, what do you think the weight distribution would be compared to a M1 with 4-inch suspension? There is no way a truck this large can be as heavy as an M1. It will feel heavy though. It is also more maneuverable. Most people like that. If they like the looks, it can go anywhere.

I have always liked big trucks like this. My husband was a tow truck driver when we first got together. I would watch him from my car (I had the kids with me) when he was doing his pickups or tows. He would have all kinds of interesting stuff going on behind him. He would always stop at the end of the road, turn off the lights and listen for any other vehicles that might be coming up behind him. That is what I like to do with this. And it is just too expensive for my husband to buy one now.

It is fun to cruise around town listening to music on the cd's or watch the kids run around listening to the radio.

I have a freightliner m2 with a 8" rr engine and 5100s that are in the process of being traded in. I am looking to get them going again and have no idea what to go with. I was thinking of buying a 7.5" single axle rr engine and having it installed on a frame lift. The problem is that this engine does not have a radiator or a fan, how do I make sure that I have one when I put the engine on the frame?
