Customer satisfaction comes with a Skoda badge
The Czech carmaker, who's Yeti vehicle also came second in the survey, and who saw a whopping 20% sales increase in 2012, was praised for the affordability of it's vehicles; offering such incentives as 0% finance offers and zero VAT on new buys. The practicality of it's vehicles was also extolled.
Also included in the top five cars of the survey were the usual suspects; in third spot was the Jaguar XF, which came second in last year's survey, and in equal fourth spots were the Citroen DS3, which was a new entry to the results, and the Lexus RX, climbing a massive 20 spots in the results since last year.
Languishing at the bottom of the results, the worst cars in the JD Power survey were the Alfa Romeo Mito, and the Chevrolet Spark. The Mito fell 70 spots in the results since last year, with What Car? citing the almost 20% increase in faults recorded in the vehicle.
In the list of overall best brands, Jaguar lead the pack again, after seeing another record sales year in 2012. Lexus came second again, with Honda inching upwards one spot to take third. Down at the bottom, emulating the winning cars list was Alfa Romeo and Chevrolet. The survey notes cited Chevrolet's poor build quality, average looks, and the loss of any 'value' appeal as some of the reasons it stayed at the bottom of the list of 27 car manufacturers.
Winners in other categories include another award for the Skoda Superb as best family car/compact executive; best supermini for the Citroen DS3; best city car for the Volkswagen Fox; and best small family car for the Toyota Prius.
