The 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI unveiled
The price for the most basic model Golf GTI will be £25,845, rising to £28,895 for those wanting to go all out and buy everything going for the vehicle. Available as either a three-door or five-door bodystyle, the Golf is also available in two specifications; standard, or Performance, for an extra £980.
The standard model comes with a turbocharged 2.0 litre four cylinder engine, providing 217bhp and a top speed of 152mph. The Performance has an extra 10bhp, and a top speed of 155mph, and offers upgraded braking and a high-perf front differential.
To help the vehicle comply with EU regulations on emissions, the GTI comes with Stop/Start technology, which turns off the engine when the car comes to a halt. Available with either a manual or automatic six-speed gearbox, the manual can get up to 47.1mpg with 139g/km CO2 emissions, whilst the automatic gets 44.1mpg at best, with 149h/km CO2.
As standard, the GTI comes with a host of equipment. Sports steering wheel, climate control with a dual zone feature, post-collision braking, front assist and emergency braking all comes as standard, as does a touchscreen entertainment system, allowing bluetooth connectivity.
