October sees best Chrysler sales since 2007
One of the first automotive companies to report on last month's sales, Chrysler announced that its sales during October were up by 10 per cent from last year, with 126,185 vehicles being sold during the month, up from 114,512 during the same period last year. The company, which has been majority owned by Italian car manufacturer Fiat since 2009, remarked that it was the 31st sequential month of year-on-year increases in it's sales figures.
Four out of five of Chrysler Group LLC's car brands saw this increase in sales over October. The Chrysler brand was up by 5 per cent, which was their best October sales since 2007. Ram pickup truck sales rose by 20 per cent compared to October 2011. The Dodge brand also saw sales rise by 20 per cent last month. And finally, Fiat brand sales were up by a massive 89 per cent during October. This is the largest percentage increase that the Chrysler Group has seen in any brand year-over-year. The only brand to see an overall drop in sales was Jeep.
It is conjectured that American car sales will see a rise of around 11 per cent over October, with both Honda and Toyota seeing an increased consumer demand for compact cars, in the wake of rising fuel prices across the sub-continent.
According to a poll of economists by Reuters, it is thought that the annual sales figures for vehicles is likely to hit 14.9 million units this year.
