How much does the Vauxhall Astra cost?

How much does the Vauxhall Astra cost?

Is the Vauxhall Astra reliable?

The Vauxhall Astra has been one of the UK's best-selling cars for almost a decade now, and we've been driving the model since the beginning. There are lots of Astra variants on the market, some with more seats than others, but we think the four-door is the perfect size for any family. There are plenty of good reasons to buy the car, too. Not only is it a decent-sized hatchback that's a comfortable, quiet cruiser, but it's also the perfect size for four adults and any number of kids.

Vauxhall Astra specs. Even if you're not planning on taking your Astra on any epic road trips, it can still offer up decent fuel economy (and you don't have to be an expert driver to get the best from it). On paper, the 1.6-litre petrol engine with manual transmission isn't bad for a family car. The Astra comes with a five-speed manual gearbox, which is standard for the base 'Toledo' trim and above, and for an additional cost the car will also come with a five-speed automatic transmission.

At the lower end, the engine produces 96bhp and 138lb ft of torque, while the higher spec 'Sprint' variant offers an extra 2lb ft. This should provide a decent amount of power, and we've driven it to say that it is more than adequate. It does require revs to come on at the right time and there's some evidence of low-rpm drone through the car's cabin - but it's far from a problem.

If you're looking for maximum performance, you might want to go for the 'VXR' or 'VXS' variants, which are offered in conjunction with the Vauxhall Astra VXR or VXS. These cars come with the same engine, but it gets an extra 5bhp and 200lb ft of torque and it will accelerate from 0-60mph in 9.2sec.

It's a fine car, and it's certainly not a boring one.

What is the top speed of the Vauxhall Astra?

The Vauxhall Astra is the most popular and best-selling hatchback in Britain. It is now one of the most affordable cars in the UK, being the cheapest car to run and maintaining a high resale value.

This is not your average family hatchback and you will be interested to know that it has top speed of 100 mph, so is faster than a Peugeot 407. This model has become the most-preferred family hatchback for budget-conscious families, as a more fuel-efficient alternative to the Mercedes C-Class.

The Astra is now available with a wide variety of powerful petrol engines and more efficient diesel engines, as well as a few interesting turbocharged petrols. It has a good choice of gear ratios, with low-range six-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions.

So if you are looking for an economical yet practical car to fit your family's needs, then the Vauxhall Astra is what you need. As you can see, the Vauxhall Astra has very good economy, with CO2 emissions lower than its peers, and lower fuel consumption than the new Ford Focus ST. The Vauxhall Astra has a top speed of 100mph which is higher than the Ford Focus and most other family hatchbacks. This gives you a bit of style and fun as you drive it down the highway at a constant speed.

Vauxhall Astra reviews on What Car? - A great little family hatchback that's much more fun to drive than a Toyota. The Astra is comfortable, well built and stylish and it really suits the family's needs perfectly.

Top Gear Magazine - Not a huge leap from the Astra, but with a lot less fuss around the edges. It's got a bigger boot and looks quite smart in a smart sort of way.

Autocar.uk - A well designed, well equipped small hatchback, the Astra is as good on price as it is on performance. Well-appointed, versatile, reliable and with decent MPG figures, the Vauxhall Astra is a real bargain.

What Car? - The Astra is a clever-looking, well-constructed hatch with a low centre of gravity and loads of space.

Why should I buy a Vauxhall Astra?

vauxhall astra used Why should I buy a Vauxhall Astra?

Vauxhall Astra. It's the quintessential British small car, having been in production since 1981. But will it ever stop being such? In fact it seems like the Astra has done just fine, and the model is still selling in large numbers.

How can you go wrong with something that was first produced during the British Iron Age? But don't get too excited just yet - Vauxhall's been busy developing what may well be the next generation of Astra, an all-new one for 2023. So what makes it so special? Its price. While the 2-litre petrol engine may be as old as the hills, Astra still comes in at less than 10k for a basic version, while the four-wheel-drive TD comes in at about 20k. That's a significant price difference, particularly when you consider the Astra's rather bland styling and relatively pedestrian equipment.

But with these figures in mind, it could be argued that if you want a Vauxhall, you don't really need to pay much more for an Astra. The good news is that it doesn't have to be that way, and Vauxhall is taking the wraps off an upgraded Astra in the summer. So why not take a look to find out what the changes are? We've listed them below.

What's new? The main point of the 2023 upgrade for the all-new Astra is the range-topping VXR version, which comes with revised front and rear bumpers as standard, a sportier bodykit, alloy wheels and a sat-nav as part of the optional extras package. That 18,050 premium on the basic version goes some way to justifying the increase in performance, although with the Vauxhall equivalent of an Audi A3 or BMW 3 Series, there are few surprises in the engine options.

The biggest change is in the 2-litre engine - a new four-cylinder turbo petrol option is available to those who want a bit more performance. There's also a revised version of the 1.7 litre diesel engine, which is a real improvement on its predecessor. Its engine design remains uncluttered, but it generates the expected 177 bhp and 369 lb ft of torque, making it a smooth performer at cruising speeds.
