Vauxhall's site says April 2025. Would be good to see this one in the States on the Chrysler / Mitsubishi joint venture, hopefully this is the last we see of them.

This appears to be the last of the UK models until March 2025 when it goes to the last model Astra, ie Astra GSi.e. The Astra has gone down in many ways, in its design, in customer service, in emissions standards and many other areas but it did gain one thing, "longevity" - it lasted 9 years longer than my original 2025 car did! This new one, like many modern cars, is the last in a design - what happened to the rounded Astra? (Yes, there's a new design coming but they're getting rid of the last of the old design). As you say, it's time to bring in the Chrysler-Mitsubishi joint venture - so no more Vauxhalls here in the UK! It will make life a lot easier for me, with my Vauxhall credit card! Oh well, if it's time to move on, it's time to move on. I was thinking about getting a new car about 6 months ago, but could only find the Vauxhalls and couldn't find an affordable alternative (as the Vauxhall was the cheapest).

Posted by: Tom on January 27, 2025 (0). I don't understand why people think the Astra is dead. It has a new design that is a lot better than the old one. I have 2 kids aged 9 and 12 and they love the Astra as it is cheap to run and easy to park. The interior is well equipped and is spacious enough for their needs. I think the Vauxhall has been very well reviewed this year, in fact it is a bit of a bestseller right now. I have a brand new 2025 model as my second car and I think it has been well reviewed as well.

By Matthew CobbUpdated on: 11th August 2025. In November 2025, the second generation of Vauxhall's best-selling car, the Astra range, was launched in Europe. So what's different about this generation? Read on to discover whether this is a good car to buy.

Astra's most visible new feature is that the 'hatch' or tailgate, which has been a fixture on the Astra since the first model launched, has been replaced by an elegant sweep of glass. Other changes include a revised front bumper (although the grille is the same as before) and some new exterior and interior colours. The price of the entry-level trim, the SE, has also risen by 300 over the last model, from 16,295 to 17,095. The SE isn't available in the UK at all, however; only the more well-equipped SE Premium model is on offer here.

Inside, there's little to distinguish one Astra from another, although the new SE now features leather seats rather than rubber. That said, it looks and feels great; the dashboard is attractive and the seats comfortable, while the steering wheel is simple and very well finished. The Astra SE's infotainment screen also has the latest iControl system. It allows you to start, stop, pause, fast-forward, rewind or switch tracks simply by pressing the buttons on the controller's screen. The climate controls work much the same way. The Astra also gets a large range of driver assistance systems, including Intelligent Cruise Control (for distance keeping), Collision and Emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning and Speed Limit Warning.

The Astra comes with a wealth of safety systems, not least Automatic Emergency Braking which applies the brakes if you detect the risk of collision; Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert which uses your rear-view camera to check for the presence of people or objects at the back of the car; Blind Spot Assist which helps ensure that the car keeps within its lane; Road Departure Mitigation which warns of road surface defects and even Adaptive Cruise Control, for constant speed keeping. The Astra will also take part in the new Top Gear Car Test - see pages 28 and 29 for full details.
