How much BHP does the Ford Focus ST-Line 1.0 EcoBoost have?
And how much torque? Ford seems to be quiet about the car's output, but there is a reason: It doesn't have any.
Ford isn't saying that the 1.0-liter EcoBoost doesn't produce any torque; rather, they are leaving it to us to decide. It's not that they are being coy about their power output, though, but that they aren't doing anything to get our attention on it.
The car doesn't officially have a name yet, but for now we are calling it the Focus ST-Line 1.0 EcoBoost. The Ford Focus is a great little sports car and the car you can buy now will be a lot more fun if it produces more than 133 horsepower, thanks to its turbocharged powertrain.
The car does produce 133 hp, but how much torque does it make? This is something of a trick question, and most of the time when we ask about torque, the answer is: "Not much." But the ST-Line is a different story. Here is what the Focus ST-Line 1.0 EcoBoost will do: 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds 100-to-0 mph in 11.3 seconds Top speed is 155 mph. The reason the torque question is tricky is because the Focus doesn't use a traditional manual transmission or an automatic. There is no clutch that lets you shift gears on command, either. The 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine uses an electric motor to assist in turning the crankshaft.
We all know that the F-150 uses a five-speed manual transmission, and the Escape uses a six-speed automatic. But the Focus ST-Line 1.0 EcoBoost is different from those.
What this means is the ST-Line has no drivetrain. No manual or automatic transmission, no clutch pedal, no shifter. Everything on this car is electric, just like the Chevy Volt.
Electric? That's right. Because if you remember your high school science class, an electric motor has a motor. That's all it does. No gearbox.
The key is the drive system and traction control system. While the car has an electric motor, it does not have a gearbox.

Are 1.0 EcoBoost engines fast?
There's a lot of talk about the 1.0 EcoBoost engines and how fast they are, and I've even been asked what my opinion is.
Here's what I have to say: the 1.0 EcoBoost is not very fast, but it's not slow either. I'm talking about top end power for sure. It can't compete with the 2.0L V6 EcoBoost, but it's not going to make it to the front of the pack.
The 1.0L EcoBoost is not faster than the 1.6L Ecoboost in my opinion. It has a little less peak power (not much) and it also has a little less torque. That torque is there all the time though, which is why you don't see the 1.6L EcoBoost being used as a drag strip engine. The 1.0L EcoBoost has enough torque that you don't really have to "drive it" to use it for drag strip purposes. You can just let it run in top gear most of the time and it will keep up with the other engines.0L EcoBoost is not very fast, but it's not slow either. It has a little less peak power (not much) and it also has a little less torque.
I agree with this. I've had a 1.0L and a 1.6L v6 in my truck and I prefer the 1.6v6.
I'm not sure I've ever been behind a 1.0L, but I've only had them running in 1-3 gear most of the time.
