What happens if you win a car on Copart and don't pay?
So I won a car from Copart, and I received the tracking info for it as it was being shipped. However, after the shipment, I was informed that I would have to pay for shipping first before they will release the vehicle to me. Now, I am getting a bit anxious for the vehicle because the guy who won it is not around anymore and I have no way of contacting him. The shipping company also has the tracking info.
I called them and asked if I could cancel the shipment, but they are pretty firm about doing the pick up. I am concerned for the safety of the vehicle. I don't want it to get stolen. I want to talk with this guy about it so that we can resolve this and get the car to me as quickly as possible.
So my question is this: How do I talk to this shipping company or whoever is handling this shipment? How do I tell them to release the car to me, as the winning entrant? If you've won something from copart and want it back, it's best to send them money for the car, so they have proof it's yours. But if you win something from them for free (which you probably did), then I would wait until you get the tracking information so you can follow it to their warehouse/sorting center/etc. Then call the sorting center or whatever it is and ask what to do next. It's their responsibility to tell you what to do once the package is picked up and they have it in their possession. If they don't, go to the police department in the town where they are based.
But if you're still worried, just pay shipping for a day or two until you get the tracking info, and then call them and try to arrange for a pickup at your convenience, so you can contact your original winner. If you have something that is free for the shipping company, there is no way they will let you keep it. Also if you don't pay for shipping, what's to stop someone else from claiming they owned it and taking it. If they really are not around anymore, that's a good point for not getting the car.
On top of that, what if you have to pay shipping to get it home? I would suggest getting a police report on this since you're getting "anxious".
Can anyone buy a car from Copart UK?

I am not able to buy a car from Copart UK. Is it possible to buy a car from them? If yes, then how can I do it? If not, then why? As the OP mentioned in his comment, he is getting a message saying that he is not allowed to order a car from them. Here's the response from the team in charge of the site. Thank you for contacting us! Copart UK has a unique relationship with its customers, we are not an automobile dealership but we operate as an online marketplace for people to sell their vehicles. We offer a service that allows our customers to search for vehicles and then they pay using a secure credit/debit card. Our customers then provide information such as a picture of the vehicle they wish to sell, including a list of faults, and then Copart UK send the buyer an email containing a link to the car they have chosen to purchase. Once they click on the link they are taken to the vehicle details page, which includes all the relevant information and photographs of the vehicle.
We also have an after-sales service that allows customers to contact us about any issues they have experienced with their vehicle and we can then assist them with getting the vehicle repaired or replaced. We currently do not sell cars, but rather facilitate the sale of vehicles. If you wish to sell your car please visit www.carcheck.uk where you can list your car for sale, they will then arrange a buyer and send them a quote to pay for your vehicle. They are then responsible for contacting the buyer and delivering the car.
If you have any questions about selling your vehicle on our site, please feel free to contact us via our help desk on 0845 556 3555.
Can I drive my car away from Copart?
Is that possible? We will give you a FREE estimate for your car. If your car is not listed on our site then it's time to update it! We will take your VIN number down and get it listed on our computers for free. Then we will post the information to our site so you can register your VIN and save on parking costs and towing fees and avoid paying an hourly rate to our lot. Contact us immediately with your VIN # if you need to and we will get your car updated to our site and available for purchase from our customers who are local. When was the last time your company updated your website or made the necessary changes to the website? Our team at Copart does this EVERY WEEK. They even make calls, emails, and phone calls to our Customers and the Car Firms asking them to get car sales ready for Copart to make it easier for their customer to get a car. Just in case you don't know. We do that all week long from Monday through Friday. Not just 2 weeks in advance. Also - I did want to clear up something. Our website is constantly changing. Sometimes we have to correct problems after the fact. For example, we were just told (via email) the problem that caused us to charge this one fee was a new security system, but we haven't added it yet. So, for the person who asked and wrote about this on this site. Thank you.
I just found my car listed on there. Does that mean they have to pay me shipping costs? The buyer must pay all shipping fees. This way your job is easier by having your car listed with Copart. You aren't taking any money out of your pocket. It goes directly to the buyer from your company.
No longer can you purchase an "open end" car. Sorry if this offends you. We know this hurts and we respect your concern.
