We're starting to get a little excited for the Newmar motorhome. While you've probably already read about it in our previous coverage, it's not until we start putting together the review that we'll be able to put everything together. For example, as we've been discussing this unit, we've been focusing more on interior space, while still keeping an eye out for exterior dimension and layout. The fact that the length of the Newmar has gone under the radar is something that's been bugging me. When we talk about the motorhome length, we're not just talking about the length of the chassis, but we're also considering the length of the whole trailer. It's that last aspect that's been bothering me, because I'm having trouble deciding whether or not I prefer this aspect of the Newmar.

Now, there's no doubt that a longer chassis is going to mean more interior space, but that's not the only thing that matters. I'm a little torn about the interior space of the Newmar. After all, if you're only going to be sleeping in the motorhome, then you might as well have the most room possible. On the other hand, if you're going to be spending a lot of time on the road with the family, then you want to maximize your camping area. The longer you can make the interior space, the more comfortable that interior space will be for you, and the more space you can get around your family.

The length of the Newmar is pretty great. It measures in at 9.6 feet from the floor to the ridge, which means that it's only half an inch short of 10 feet. While we don't have a final length on the chassis yet, we do know that the chassis length is only 5.1 feet, so it's no wonder that the Newmar only has an exterior dimension of 10 feet. It's actually the most compact Newmar chassis yet. This is going to come in really handy, because it's going to help to maximize the interior space. It's going to be nice to have that extra length when you're going to be working on the rig.

In 2025, the D-12 made up 9% of Newmar's total sales, according to RVSTA data. The second most popular Newmar motorhome, the A-10, made up 5%. The next model, the C-6, made up 4%.

According to RVSTA, D-12 owners spent more than owners of other models on other products and services, such as camping supplies. Based on the numbers, it appears that D-12 owners have been spending more on Newmar accessories than owners of other models.

When Newmar was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in 2025, the D-12 became the top-selling model, but it's possible the new owners are having trouble keeping the D-12 in stock. According to a recent article on Motorhome News, there were only two D-12s available for sale in the US at the time of publication. I hope your getting better with all this health news. The information is difficult to understand. It depends on your situation of course. We do know it is a new type of engine. But we can't really say what kind of engine it is. Like we could have a gas generator powered by a diesel engine, we could have a diesel engine which does the same function as a regular generator like our model 464. So I think your asking the wrong question. Let's say were going to create a hybrid. We have an electric motor which runs a generator and also has a diesel engine. Then you would have a diesel engine running the air conditioner/heating system etc. You would not be asking what kind of diesel engine is it but what is it designed for? Are they used for fuel only? Like in trucks and so on? For power generation? Or for air conditioning? Which is an entirely different question? So it's a diesel engine but it's how it's used and for what purpose.
