How much does an RV cost in the UK?

There are many different types of recreational vehicles or motor homes available to buy in the UK today. Depending on how many bedrooms they have, the sizes and their features, the cost can vary quite dramatically. In this article we look at the most common types of motor home you can buy today in the UK and what it will cost you to own one. This post is the second in a two part series on the cost of owning an RV in the UK and can be read in conjunction with the first article - ? How many bedrooms does it have? When buying your RV, it's important to ensure that it has enough room for the people you're travelling with. An RV that is too small can become a huge inconvenience for everyone.

However, it is possible to purchase an RV with just a single bedroom, and plenty of others can be added over time - usually without much of a problem. A great starting point is to check out the model numbers of RVs that you're looking at, as they will often give an idea of the size. As a general guide, a 1 bedroom caravan or motorhome is unlikely to be more than 8 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and will cost in the region of 50,000 - 75,000.

If you're wanting something bigger, then be sure to check out this post - How much does an RV cost in the UK? - for guidance on how much you can expect to pay. However, there are some more sophisticated models that can be much bigger than that. For example, the larger units from Coachman, which will usually come with three bedrooms, can easily cost over 200,000 in the UK. It's likely that most motor homes sold in the UK will fall in between these two extremes, and this is what we'll be looking at in this post. What is the smallest model I can buy? There are quite a few different models of motor home in the UK today, and each one offers a very different experience. Depending on how big your family is, it may well be that you want to be able to expand or keep an RV that small. That being said, the smallest motor homes are usually only about 7 metres long.

Can you get an RV in the UK?

- An introduction

You will be surprised by the answers to this question but we are going to let you in on our own little secret, which means that you should start planning for the future now and have a look at our guide here: RV ownership and insurance in the UK. This post will answer all your questions about RV ownership in the UK and tell you why and how to get your RV into the country.

RV ownership in the UK is pretty much identical to any other country, the biggest difference is, that RV owners in the UK have to register their RV, as there is no general law that says RV owners have to get their RV registered. This law has been around since 2025.

How many people have been allowed to register an RV in the UK? The number is around 300 - 4000. However, as the rules for registering are not only strict, it costs money, which makes it even harder for some people to register their RV, in which case they turn to the less regulated supervised campers, who allow people to park for free at their campsites. In other cases, people buy a campervan or motorhome, and try to sell it once they have arrived in the UK. Some may sell the RV, drive to France or Spain, and buy another one on the way. So, the number of legal RV owners in the UK can be hard to quantify, however we are talking about something around 150 - 200 thousand in the UK alone, of which a significant amount are already here and are waiting to register the RV. But if you're wondering, I would estimate the RV ownership number to be closer to 250,000 - 350,000.

The UK is a wonderful country if you want to travel on a budget or are on a long holiday. If you want to save money and be frugal with what you buy, then maybe you don't want to buy an RV when you can just rent one for your trip to Europe, because after all, you can probably make more money from renting than from RV ownership.

But if you like the idea of driving across Europe in style, with plenty of comfort and with friends and family with you, then it might be a good idea to register your RV in the UK. Do you have to have a vehicle plate for your RV? Of course not!

What is the best selling Newmar motorhome?

newmar corporation rv for sale What is the best selling Newmar motorhome?

In the past decade, the best selling RV has been the Fleetwood Discovery. The reason is it is a nice clean, affordable, easy to handle and drive RV that most people will enjoy. In fact, it's such a good choice that it is still in production today, with many thousands sold so far. This makes the Discovery quite a popular motorhome, and probably the one best known of all the RVs on the market.

Many of you might have heard of a small Newmar motorhome that has also done very well over the last 10 years. A Newmar motorhome comes in three different sizes, the Newmar Quest, Newmar Quest XL, and the Newmar Quest XLR. The quest and XLR versions come in different heights, with the XLR version having higher floor heights than the Quest or Quest XL. The Quest XL does not come in as high of an height. The size of the models are as follows:

The Newmar Quest XL has a floor to ceiling length of 10 feet 5 inches and a width of 6 feet. It has a sleeping capacity for 6 people.

The Newmar Quest XLR has a floor to ceiling length of 9 feet 7 inches and a width of 6 feet 6 inches. It has a sleeping capacity for 7 people.

The Newmar Quest XL has a floor to ceiling length of 9 feet 3 inches and a width of 6 feet 5 inches. How many people can fit into the Newmar motorhome? We are going to get into more detail on this later on, but the answer to this question is going to depend on the size of the Newmar motorhome you choose. Each Newmar model has different sleeping capacities.

The Quest XL and XLR have 2 sleeping bunks, which allow 2 adult passengers to sleep side-by-side. The Quest has 1 bunk at the back, and 1 at the front. The XL has 2 bunks at the back, and 1 at the front.

The Quest XLR has 2 bunks at the back, and 1 at the front.

Is Newmar a good brand of motorhome?

Find out here!

So you've probably noticed that the new, super-modern motorhome has been coming in a lot more and a lot more lately, what with all those big shiny brochures popping up all over the web. While I'm not usually much for brochures, I admit to wanting one of these things because it looks so slick (and as a full-time camper, I'm always looking for the slickest, most modern thing on the market, or at least within my price range!).

I know it was a very brief period when many of us actually used the 'modern' style of RVing, but now a lot of people I know (in fact, the people in my own immediate family) have gotten into the habit of seeing the sleek look in vehicles, the way people used to see 'sleek' cars being driven by someone who knows how to drive, or is an 'elite' type of driver. And while it used to seem to make sense that you'd get a brand that made you feel like a rich celebrity if you bought one, it turned out not to be exactly true. Some time ago, while I was shopping for a new vehicle (and incidentally doing a lot of online research), I remember coming across an online review that had some interesting points about Newmar's new motorhomes. The reviewer, whom I'll call JB, was quite impressed with their styling (I say fascinated but she seems to mean it differently) and pointed out a lot of things that I myself had never even known existed. I was interested in Newmar's offerings because, well, why not, right?

So when I came across this site (and started doing some reading), I was so thrilled to find a website devoted to motorhomes like no other! As JB pointed out, there are lots of other sites where you can learn more about specific motorhomes, and they cover those things fairly well, but I felt that this information could be organized a little bit better. So I put together this list for you. Please enjoy, and feel free to pass the word along!
