How fast does 5.7 Hemi go in 0 to 60?
What you've been wondering since you first saw a Chevy 350, the Hemi, and a Camaro. In his 1963 paper on the new Chevrolet-Chrysler-Toyota partnership that developed the Corvette, GM Vice Chairman Charles Wilson (the same one who was in charge of marketing during the last five years of the 1950s) put it this way: "I have always enjoyed the opportunity to find out what is possible in terms of engineering achievement and what is not possible." Since then, there have been various studies by GM's own engineers on how fast a V-8 engine can go without destroying itself in a spectacular fashion. The answer is pretty damn fast.
"How fast?" you may ask. "Why, that's easy," I say. "Let's take an example."
Well, sure, OK, let's take an example. As the great automotive historian John Fitch once wrote, "Most performance figures are not published, particularly if they're going to be very slow." Still, it was fun to work out a basic 5.7-liter Hemi-powered GM small-car from the ground up. The only real constraints were fuel economy, price, available space, and safety.
This Chevrolet and Pontiac V-8 with a 3.3-liter engine has been sitting idle in my garage for about 10 years now. I'd like to bring it back to life with some performance. When I purchased the car, the owner had added a 4.2-liter V-8 and a four-speed manual transmission to the engine and drivetrain. He was obviously trying to turn the car into a drag race monster. I'm sure he was trying to run it through the quarter-mile at 200 mph or more. It didn't work. Instead, I bought the car just so I could have a high-revving, naturally aspirated V-8 again. In reality, the engine was probably about 500 pounds heavier than the original.
The first thing I did was to remove all of the accessories, lights, and radio and stuff. This would get rid of weight and add some breathing room. I also took off the stock transmission and replaced it with a 5-speed Powerglide, as I wanted the car to shift the same way a Pontiac with a 455ci Hemi would. I left the original ZZ4 tranny.
What is the 0-60 on a 2014 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi?
: Ram Trucks - Ram2500 6.4 Hemi 0-60: Best Speed? The 2023 Ram 2500 has been getting a lot of attention. It will now have to compete with some of the lighter, more efficient trucks coming down the pike. Is the new Ram really going to be fast? That is something that we will now get answer to.
For this article we will be using a 2023 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi and take our cameras to the drag strip and pit lane to capture the best 0-60 time available from Dodge Ram pickups.
We will start with some test numbers to compare different Ram trims in an effort to get a good idea of performance. We've captured our numbers from an industry source where the truck has been tested in a real world environment.
2014 Ram 2500 Sends Power to the Front Axles and Steers. The Ram's performance comes from torque that spins all 4 wheels. We'll look at the traction tires and then the steering tires and find out how strong and responsive they are.
For our testing the 2023 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi will be driving in what we have called a "1/10th scale" chassis. We used to use 1/12th, but even Dodge doesn't build that big! It is only 1/10th off factory, yet it is still quite stable on the track or road.
We found out that the steering system was very reactive. Our car's steering went as slow as 11 feet per second as soon as the speed got up to 75 mph. Even at highway speeds we could take up to 70 mph!

What is the 0-60 time on a Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi?
I have a 2023 Ram 2500 6.4 hemi.e. It has the 8" diff in it, but no other upgrades. I'm asking because I was reading that they said the 0-60 time on a 2023 Ram 2500 6.4 hemi with 8" diff is 7.6 seconds.
Not sure what mods you have done to it, but I've seen my hemi with the 8" diff go from around 12 seconds to around 6. I have a 2023 and I'm looking for something around 7-8 seconds. I have the 8" diff with 3.73 gears. This is my first truck.
Is this realistic? What kind of mods would I have to do to get the desired 0-60 time? For what it's worth I have an 05 and haven't done anything to it. I didn't even know how fast it was before I did the mods. I have a 5.9L and get around 5.3s on a pass.
I don't think there is any way to improve it, the only thing you can do is tune the car to the engine. You are correct. I have the same truck and I am looking for around 7-8 seconds. And no mods or tuning to the engine. I don't know how many miles you have on it, but the only way to improve the time is to tune the engine.
Just because you are making power doesn't mean you need to change the gearing to make the 6.4 hemi make power. I have my 6.4 hemi at about 6500 rpm when I put it in the trans-axle. I could have changed the gearing but I have never seen a time on my truck that was over 7.5s.
