Is Dodge getting rid of the HEMI motor?

Is Dodge getting rid of the HEMI motor?

Why is Ram discontinuing the HEMI?

That's a question I'm sure you can answer.

If it doesn't run to 60 mpg and has trouble meeting NHTSA standards, don't expect it to be popular among drivers. I find it interesting that you can't name any current American cars with four wheel discs that meet these standards. I don't drive the car, but the current models in the VX family are more than sufficient for my needs. It's a shame that Ram isn't offering this, especially since they already have an SUV ready to compete head on. This might because Ford also is discontinuing them too.

Yes but do you think it won't hurt them sales and profit? What would the HEMI look like in the Ram 1500? What are you getting at here? Quote: I can't tell you what I'm getting at because you aren't replying to my point, and this forum rules allow you to do so. I know what is coming but I want to see some good answers. No names or personal attacks. The only thing I want is to see why people think it will hurt their sales or profit. Also what your reason is for thinking that.

Not really the question in my opinion. The bigger question is why would you need to drive to 60 mpg and meet NHTSA's safety standards when a V10 is available? But, yeah. If it's the cost and time to produce it I can't imagine people will want to go through the process once it's been discontinued.

Do you think V8 is obsolete in a modern pickup truck? Not even Ford has 4 cylinders in their light trucks. Why is the big V series of engines obsolete and discontinued? In fact, the engine series that's being phased out (V8/7) will still be available long after HEMI comes out with their new model! It's the same reason every other manufacturer does what they do. Pickup & Crossover trucks has become huge market and its being replaced rapidly.

Are V8 engines being phased out?

V8 engines are being phased out by Ford and General Motors. I understand this is a long time coming. But this is such a huge loss to the automotive world.

In the past, GM has taken a very large percentage of the profits on new cars, but this year it just released a profit and loss statement for a six month period (Oct 2023 - Mar 2012). Ford has done the same. I don't want to get into the political reasons, but both of these companies have been going downhill as of late. There is a good reason, but I'm sure someone else will tell you.

As much as I'd love to go see a Ford or GM car, I'm pretty sure they won't be making V8s in the future, and I won't even be able to afford to buy one if it were a new model. Why would they want to phase them out? If they had any balls they would keep them for some sort of engine swap setup. It would cost too much to keep them around for one year, so you'd best off with a different engine. But, if they didn't, they wouldn't sell as many cars.

I think it's a combination of both. You have to look at the big picture here. We are getting closer to the gas pump crunch, and fuel costs are sky high. So we have to start reevaluating the old engines. They aren't as efficient as the new, and they require more effort from the mechanics, etc. Just look at the V6s of the 70's vs the V8s today.

What is going to replace the HEMI?

is the 6.4 hemi being discontinued What is going to replace the HEMI?

The original plan was to make the HEMI a standard unit of measurement in NASCAR. But at the time, I didn't know anything about NASCAR. I just wanted to give the HEMI its own identity, so that it could stand alone as an independent entity.

This is very important to me. The HEMI represents the independent spirit of the American market, and I like that.

The HEMI will still be there. I haven't abandoned it. We will work on it. I am sure that once we find a replacement, it will be there again.

How will the next HEMI be similar? The new HEMI has all of the characteristics of the original HEMI. We need to replace the engine. But that doesn't mean that the new HEMI will be completely different. I want to leave the existing technology with the HEMI. I hope that the HEMI fans will forgive us.

What will happen to the current Ford engines in NASCAR? The engine companies like to stay in business and make money. So they will still be around. They will be replaced by something different.

At the next race in Kansas City, the HEMI should go back to racing? I will do that if we make more money than we lose. For now, the current HEMI can do well. We will still have some customers, even if we change.

Will the new HEMI be more fuel efficient? That's another issue. We will see how it goes. The old engine was very fuel-efficient.

Why did you change your mind on going electric? That was a mistake. I changed my mind because the electric cars were out of my way. I had no plans to use electric.

Have you heard about ZERO1? I don't know what ZERO1 is, but I heard a rumor that they don't want to use gasoline. What happens if you win the championship this year? I will not accept the championship right now. Are you really going to race the Indianapolis 500? Yes, it will be interesting. I never thought that I would be doing the Indy 500. My career will start from next year.

Is Dodge getting rid of the HEMI motor?

It was mentioned a couple of times in other threads. Just curious.

It would be nice, but in reality it will never happen. The only thing they have to get rid of is the Hemi motor. If there was anything left that could make it a Hemi motor but isn't that really the entire point to call it a HEMI engine? The only real parts to get rid of are cam shaft, the pistons and connecting rods. The actual drive gears would make an engine a Hemi so they may be looking at getting rid of those. I can't see any purpose of keeping the gears after everything else has been taken out.

This is a good point, but then again most of the parts that make up a V8 are used for the Hemi, so I don't think they could use parts that originally came from the C6 Hemi.e. I think this actually means that it's quite possible that they will not build a V8 with Hemi parts at all as opposed to some other motor design.

So we all agree that all they have to do is just take out the cams, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, etc. What then? Are they going to put a smaller camshaft in it? There have been numerous pictures of the camshaft that they have displayed and one can tell that it is much bigger than the camshafts on the Hemi.e. Could they take the same cam and put it on another motor that doesn't require that much power? Then they would use the smaller valve guides and exhaust and intake manifolds. Is that it? Could they even swap in the valves and put all the oil galleries in the right spots? I'm just curious, because a lot of people are pretty positive that the next Challenger will be the first new engine ever to use the aluminum cylinder heads and rods, but then again we also had the aluminum intake manifolds and aluminum heads, but no aluminum camshafts, but still a V8. That was the Mopar Engine that started out in the 69 Dodge Charger (and other models). It was built into the '69 Charger when it was made. Could they even build a cylinder head and have all the ports in the right places, put in the valves, and use the same exhaust and intake manifolds that the '69 used?
