Are Churchill and Direct Line the same?
Churchill and Direct Line had some very, let's say, memorable moments in the past. Churchill was the biggest provider in the market with a lot of coverage offered. Not a lot of people remember Direct Line having the biggest coverage but with just 2 carriers there were plenty of people who used their product. When one of those guys got sick of their policy not getting renewed it became more noticeable than usual. The issue was that their policy not getting renewed got a lot of publicity. The guy whose policy got cancelled didn't respond well. His response was very anti company and made Churchill look bad. That's why they got out of being the market leader. However, both companies are doing better recently. Churchill came back with plans and policies as well as direct line too. If I remember, they even offer cell phone plans but they are not as broad. So, Churchill will be fighting for market share while Direct Line is content because of that whole debacle.
Can I cancel if I live abroad and cancel with another company in the UK? Yes! Just as you can do with other countries. If you buy a plan at a carrier's website for your plan which does not have an office outside the UK then this plan has to be cancelled in the country where the office is. The cancellation will come into effect from the day the policy is made valid (valid means you need to pay a set fee). As long as the contract doesn't need the approval of any authorities in that particular country, and if the contract was entered into before the expiry of the term of this contract. You cancel the plan in that case. If you are in Canada or the U. Your phone won't work since Canadian carrier don't work with those countries' carriers. The cancellation will come into effect from the day the policy is made valid (valid means you need to pay a set fee).
