In a bold move, Ford and Ram are planning on making the next-generation model of the best-selling pickup truck available to those living in tornado and hurricane zones. The Ram 1500 will be equipped with V-6 engines with gasoline direct injection, as well as diesel engines.
According to the latest reports, the 2.7-liter gasoline engine could offer up to 30 percent better fuel economy than its predecessor. In addition, the direct injection enables the engine to operate in lower temperature conditions without sacrificing performance. This will allow for a more efficient operation in the tropics, which will mean improved fuel efficiency and performance. This could also potentially cut down on emissions by as much as 20 percent and reduce noise and vibration, as well.
In order to make that happen, Ford and Ram will partner with the California Air Resources Board. CARB is responsible for the emissions standards under the California's Air Quality Act. When the agency has new rules coming out, their changes are considered by automotive manufacturers before they launch products into the marketplace.
CARB is also responsible for regulating greenhouse gas and tailpipe emissions. For its part, the new engine will help meet the stricter emission standards expected to come in force by 2023 and 2023. Those standards aim to reduce greenhouse gases as much as 25 percent by 2023. In addition, in the event that it is approved, the new engine would allow for up to 30 percent better fuel economy than the current one.
In related news, at this year's North American International Auto Show, Ford and Ram announced a collaboration to develop new pickup trucks specifically tailored for different regions in the United States. These include Mexico and the US southern region.
The new Ram trucks will each have an electric motor and a diesel engine that will enable their use in the parts of the country where such vehicles are currently underutilized, including Puerto Rico and parts of the Southeast. Ford also said that it plans on opening several dealerships in locations like Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi to provide the trucks to people who need them the most.
Do you think that people living in tornado and hurricane zones will end up wanting or even needing pickup trucks with gasoline engines? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
How much horsepower does a 2023 Ram 1500 hurricane engine have?
My 2023 truck has a 5.7L gas motor with 150k miles on it and a new powertrain. Does that mean I'm just gonna get a new transmission in my new truck? I'm not really sure what else it's gonna need. Would it be a better idea to just buy a new engine than new trans? I am in the midwest, so I can't order one until the truck is ready. How much will a 2JZ 24v turbo do by then? Thanks.
I'd look at the 2013-2014 Ram 1500 HD, for an engine swap. You'll have to have a shop swap out the rear differential (truck is rear wheel drive) and a few other parts (sway bar, etc.), but you should be able to do that yourself if you follow their DIY guide. The new engine will be less than half the cost of the new truck, and it's not a direct fit so it's probably worth having a shop do it. You'll have to have a shop swap out the rear differential (truck is rear wheel drive) and a few other parts (sway bar, etc.
Yep! Definitely make it happen! How does this work? Do you mean they swap the differential and I have a truck sitting there waiting for me? I didn't know if there was some part I would need to buy like a diff housing or something. My truck is not a cab, it is the double cab. It's only about a 12" wide.
I had seen the Ram page before. Do you know where it is? Thanks for helping me! My 2023 Ram has about 150k miles on it, and it's got a 5.7 Hemi V8 engine. My truck has been modified by a few different shops to meet the owner's wants/needs.
Will the 2023 Ram have the hurricane engine?
I have read in a couple of places that the 2023 Ram will have the 4.0 engine and the 2023 will have the 5. I was just curious if there is any truth to this?
Re: ? The first one had the 4.0, but the second generation had the 5. At least in my opinion.
"I know how to hit a curveball, don't you know? And with my curveball, I'm going to pound you into oblivion." I've read that as well, but I wasn't sure. I remember reading the first generation of the 1500 had the 4.0 and the second generation had the 5. So I wasn't sure if it was both generations that had the 5.2 or just the second generation.

How much can a 2023 Ram 1500 Hurricane tow?
This question is based on your vehicle configuration. Please select a single Ram 1500 for which you want to get a rough estimate of the curb weight in lbs and total weight in lbs (including your vehicle's configuration including any accessories or additional features) and how much weight your vehicle can pull from a tow truck. If you don't know exactly what you have, we recommend getting an estimate and seeing if you need to adjust your vehicle before ordering. This way, you'll have a better understanding of how much your vehicle can tow and you won't order an over-sized vehicle that can't tow at all. Please also note that the weight of your vehicle can fluctuate depending on factors such as tire pressure, suspension settings, condition and weather conditions. Check your owner's manual for specific details on these.
How heavy is my Dodge Ram 2500? To answer your question, I just need to know if you have a 6.0L Cummins and whether your Ram is a Crew Cab or Regular Cab. Once I have this information I will be able to figure out the rest.
Is there an easy way to tell if I have a 6.0 L Cummins? Yes! If you have the optional Ram hood emblem mounted on the grille as pictured below, then you have a 6.
What if I have both a Regular Cab and a Crew Cab? Can I have both? I believe so. In that case you just need to make sure your dash display says Regular Cab and not Crew Cab. If you do have a 6.0 L Cummins I'm going to give you a range of weights based on engine displacement (I've left the numbers out to protect the guilty). The lowest number will be for a Regular Cab (with a 6.7 Cummins or higher) and the highest weight will be for a Crew Cab (with a 6.0 Cummins or lower).
7L Cummins 614,000 - 619,000 664,000 - 674,000. If you have a regular cab with a 6.7L Cummins the tow range will be the numbers listed above. If you have a regular cab with a 6.0L Cummins it's the numbers listed above.
