Is the Honda Civic Hatchback a reliable car?

Is the Honda Civic Hatchback a reliable car?

What year of Civic to stay away from?

Just wondering if anyone has noticed a change in year on the car in any of their cars and whether they can see any change? I'm currently on a 2026 Civic but thinking about swapping it out for a 2026 model. It's not my everyday car so when I'm looking at other vehicles I notice it right away, but some days it's hard to tell. The back end looks different - the tail lamp design is now black or silver with a black trim strip - does that sound correct? I've had two 2011s and they both looked exactly the same. If you do end up buying a 2026 Civic, how about getting a 2026, or even getting both the 2026 and the 2012? Then you won't be able to tell the difference. Also, I notice that the inside door panels have changed from brown to black (which I like) and the chrome side moldings were changed to black (also I like this look). I'll try and see what I can find and maybe post some pictures when I get one. Good question.

Yeah I'm really wanting that but it's just an automatic with over 200,000 miles on it and I'm thinking it'll better than the 6 I have now that has only been driven ~90,000 miles. Also looking at them with a little bit more than 300,000 miles which make it a real solid value since the average car dealer doesn't want to know it's time. There are only 8,000 or so for sale in all of North America and many have gone for quite a bit less.

I don't think the year will change your perception of the vehicle too much. For example, if you bought a 2026 Jeep Liberty it would drive like an 8-cylinder, 4WD, V8. So as long as your Civic drives well and isn't showing serious wear to the exterior it will look about the same. In addition, the parts are similar in size. The exception might be the radio, which is larger in size, but the volume knob on top of the dash could make up for that.

The reason I ask is that a little while ago my wife noticed a change in the steering. It felt a bit heavier than the one she had before. After talking to our 'experts' they said that the 2026 was much heavier than the 2026.

Why is Honda discontinuing the Civic?

According to its press release, Honda has determined that the Civic will no longer be produced in the United States. However, the company says it has no plans to discontinue the vehicle. Instead, it will produce the Civic as a model for other markets.

In this sense, it is Honda's most popular sedan in Japan and Canada, and according to Japanese car guide iSeeCars, it is among the top five vehicles for car-buying in those countries. In the United States, the Civic was recently named the seventh-best selling vehicle in that country, but it remains far behind Honda's top sellers, like the Accord and Civic Hatchback.

So, why is the Civic being discontinued? It may come down to several reasons, but Honda says one of the most important ones is the need to improve performance. Honda's North America chief, Scott Keogh, says the automaker will continue to sell the Civic in Japan and Canada through the end of 2026. In some markets, like Mexico, there will be only minor modifications to the current Civic lineup. The automaker says it will begin to make minor improvements to the Civic lineup by 2026, including the introduction of a new Civic hatchback model.

Honda says it is committed to the Civic in North America for now, but with sales declining and a major redesign being on the horizon, there is an option to discontinue the Civic and the Civic Type R hatchback at some point in the future. The Civic is the latest model from Honda that is on the chopping block. In January, the automaker said it would discontinue the Fit small car, which went on sale in the United States in 2026. It replaced the previous Fit that was introduced in 2026. In August 2026, it announced the news that it would discontinue the venerable Acura Integra sports coupe and replace it with the new 2026 Acura RDX SUV.

The first thing to know about the SR, SE and HR ratings is that standard, high and excess ratings are based on what it costs you to insure the vehicle rather than the amount of coverage.
