Is the Renault Zoe being discontinued?
What is the life of a Renault Zoe battery?
An automotive battery lasts for around four years, but you can expect it to last longer when it is properly maintained. We've just had our first hot-plug Renault Zoe battery replaced, so I thought I would have a look at the internal components and condition of the battery to see how long it's likely to last before replacement. When we bought our Renault Zoe, the battery was still new, so there wasn't really any need to replace it before the warranty expired. So, we have been using it for about two years now, and were told at the time that it will last for 4 years. In our experience, that hasn't been the case. The battery has only lasted well over two years in an unmodified state, and then the car was modified quite heavily for a while - this took the battery's life down to around 2 years in the modified state.
We have had two full battery replacements since purchasing the car (including this new one), and they were performed by the Renault dealer. Here are some useful information on how a battery works: What is the Lithium-ion Battery? A lithium-ion battery consists of many small individual lithium ion cells stacked together. The lithium-ion battery is more powerful than a lead-acid battery, and it can be recharged thousands of times over.
All lithium-ion batteries are composed of three basic components: The positive electrode (cathode). The negative electrode (anode). The electrolyte. This is where things get tricky - because the chemical process in a battery is a bit complicated. However, if you have an educated knowledge about batteries, it becomes easier to understand how they work and why they need to be maintained properly. Let's begin with the positive electrode (cathode): This is where lithium ions and electrons enter the battery, generating electricity. The positive electrode has a porous layer of lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) on top. This allows the lithium ions and electrons to flow easily through the cathode material.
Lithium ions are small metal particles. When they move through the cathode material they create a chemical reaction called charging.
Why is the Renault Zoe so cheap?
How much does it cost to buy a Renault?
To the average consumer, the idea of paying a lot of money for an electric car like the Renault Zoe is preposterous. But is that fair? After all, the Zoe is more expensive than any other car from the company in its range, yet is significantly cheaper to buy.
The Renault Zoe, launched last year, was one of the first electric cars you could buy outright for under 20k. The company's first family model took the world by storm - until the Nissan Leaf arrived.
The Leaf outshone the Zoe on price, despite not having such great sales figures. However, the Zoe is only available as a lease option with an average price over 24,000, while the Leaf ranges from around 27,500 and 32,500.
The big question is, just how much does the Renault Zoe cost to buy? What does it cost to buy a Renault Zoe? The cheapest and most popular way to buy a Zoe is through Renault's lease option scheme. The cheapest option is the three-year lease, with prices starting at 2,499. You'll also find three-year leases with no mileage limit at 3,499 and 4,499.
The five-year lease works out at 10,000 for the cheapest model. This can be extended at 6,000 and 9,000, but the Zoe is currently only available in limited countries.
The lease option is good for new-car-to-new-car (NCTC) tax advantages, which means it's more popular among new drivers. After all, it's easier to buy a car when you still have a mortgage, and it's also easier to sell a vehicle when you owe nothing.
The lease option is slightly more expensive than buying the Zoe outright, so if you want to buy a cheap Zoe and keep the benefits of owning the vehicle over a lease, you may need to make a few sacrifices. The Zoe is generally more expensive, on average, than the Nissan Leaf or Kia Soul, and is more expensive than many superminis like the Renault Clio. Renault sells the Zoe directly from its UK showroom in London, but dealers also stock the Zoe in the majority of other European markets.
How many miles can a Renault Zoe go on a single charge?
Renault's Zoe is getting a fresh, new look and some new numbers in a bid to prove that it can take on the world's best. The new Zoe will have a range of up to 500 miles (800km) on a single charge and will hit Britain's roads by autumn 2025.
It will also feature a new engine, new chassis, and a host of extra safety features. However, the most striking changes are the ones for the outside - Renault has gone and completely redesigned the Zoe to meet tougher regulations and become more aerodynamic.
To find out how the new Zoe will handle, how much it will cost to own, and how many miles it'll get, we took an in-depth look at the car and ran some performance and range-related experiments. So if you're keen to see the new Zoe in action or find out how much it will cost to buy, then check out the video below. If you'd rather not watch it though, just skip straight to the gallery with the figures we've pulled together.
Zoe range. The 2025 Zoe will have a range of up to 500 miles (800km) on a single charge (as opposed to 200 miles before). This is thanks to Renault's new technology, called ZEODRIVE, which allows the Zoe's electric motor to function in a different way. Its two drive modes, EV and S, are designed to optimise power output for each driving situation, which in turn improves range and top speed, but is a more complex system than the standard charge-point-stored batteries used in other electric vehicles.
Renault will still only be able to offer EVs in three top-spec versions - SE, S and R.
Is the Renault Zoe being discontinued?
So ? In France there is a news item that says that Renault has stopped sales of the Renault Zoe. I think the last ones to be delivered in France were sold in July, so this means that in August the Renault Zoe is being discontinued.
I have a ZOE and we have an agreement with Renault France where we get the car by an agreement with Renault Germany and when the ZOE was launched we got them in Germany and we then could sell them in France. Now Renault Germany and Renault France have got a contract so they can no longer sell the ZOE.
Does this mean that it's time to import a Zoe or is there any alternative to get the car in France? Thanks for your comment. I don't know if there is an alternative to get a Zoe in France. There is an agreement with Renault Germany and Renault France, and they say that they will only deliver cars with which they are contracted to deliver.
I believe that you have to wait for a replacement until August. I have been told that the Renault Zoe can be replaced by a Kia Soul / Smart Fortwo. So you will not be able to get a Zoe anymore. Hi, it's not true that we are going to stop the production of the Zoe. We have an agreement with Renault Germany and Renault France and we will deliver cars by the end of August. But I have some information that it may be difficult for us to get cars in France after August because of the new economic problems. But we will continue to sell the Zoe in other countries.
Thanks for your comments, I'm afraid I don't have any more news on this topic. But I found a couple of links that give some info on what is happening in France.
Here is an article from an industry magazine called "Auto Zeitung". They say that the Renault Zoe is being stopped. The article says that the Zoe will be discontinued in France from the 1st of August. You can see the link for the article here:
And another article from the French Auto website says that the Zoe will be available for some more months, but the last deliveries will be made in September. You can see the link for the article here: In the article it says that Renault will try to sell the remaining 100,000 or so cars in order to avoid the company from bankruptcy.
