Renault win big in Scotland
At the SCOTY awards, Renault saw their Clio receiving the accolade of best small car, whilst their ZOE was named the electric car of the year, and their Captur being awarded the best crossover at the awards. The French carmaker's Dacia brand also received awards, resulting in Renault's best achievement yet at the SCOTY awards, and the best achievement for any single manufacturer since the awards began in 1998.
The Director of Renault UK north of the Border, Mark Potter, commented that winning three awards is a great achievement for the firm in Scotland. He noted that the firm met 2013 with a good start with the launch of their new Scenic model and three new superminis.
He went on: "The greater shift towards economical, efficient cars is where our cars are really shining, and I'm delighted to accept these awards which prove that we're really hitting the mark."
The panel of judges of the SCOTY awards are culled from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, of which 15 are recruited to give their opinions. The president of the ASMW, Alisdair Suttie, commented on the confidence that Renault is now showing in their recent offerings.
He heaped praise on the Clio, commenting on it's great looks and low pricing point. He also celebrated it's interior spacing and bundled equipment. The Captur exalted for it's "desirable good design" and "space for the family plus".
