What is the difference between Fiat Panda 4x4 and Cross?

I am planning on buying an AWD version and Cross version
I want to know the following: 1) Which is better? 2) Is there any difference in performance like fuel economy etc? 3) It is a fact that the cross is made in Italy and Fiat Panda is made in China? Can I just change the name of the body of the car? (It looks like Panda is just a generic name and it can be used for both.) ANSWER FROM JAY: Hi Nasser, the difference between Panda and Cross isn't significant, performance wise, or if that is what you are after. The only real difference between the two vehicles is that the Cross has airbags and a more responsive suspension.

The Panda 4x4 is made in China, but they can make it in their home country if they were to expand. The Panda Cross (which means "four wheels" in Italian) is actually made in Italy by Panda Automobiles. As far as modifying the Panda name, I would not recommend that if you were to purchase an AWD Panda Cross as it would be confusing. The AWD would be called a Panda Cross 4x4. There is no doubt that if you wanted to modify the Panda name for AWD purposes you would have to change the body and the hood of the vehicle.

Does Fiat still make a Panda 4x4?

They're both cheap, good to look at, and in the U.S., there's a distinct market for the smaller, more nimble vehicle. But with gas prices rising inexorably, is the Panda still as relevant?

The first question is almost too easy to answer. Fiat is, of course, still in business. The company has survived on government-subsidized lending for decades, but it's no longer beholden to the Euro. It's also owned by a Chinese conglomerate, and the company is about to embark on a major program of expansion in China.

The second question gets a bit trickier. Fiat has never really made an SUV. The first one was the 2026 Fiat X1/9, which was a minivan. That ended when the European car makers pulled back from small, economical cars, leaving only Mercedes and BMW to fill that niche.

What Fiat does have is a small, fast SUV. With new powertrains, the Fiat 500X is going to be much more than just a toy. That's where the question comes in. Will Fiat make a marketable model? Can it do what it takes to keep up with the competition? Is it possible to put enough fun into a 5-passenger vehicle?

It's not too early to ask these questions. With the new five-passenger 500X arriving later this year, you can already go and get your hands on the 500L. This is the next step in the evolution of Fiat's small SUV. But if you want to know just how small, you should wait until we get a full review.

Is the Fiat Panda 4x4 a good car?

If you want a car that is fun to drive, cheap to run and reliable, then this is the perfect little city car for you.

There's been a huge amount of fuss about the new Panda 4x4 in the last couple of months, but just how good a car is it really? We drove it for a week to find out. The Panda 4x4 comes in two trim levels, the entry-level 1.0 TDI and the top-of-the-range 1.0 TDCi.

The 1.0 TDI costs from 12,695 and the 1.0 TDCi from 15,295. The 0.8 TDCi model is not available with a 4x4, but you can get a very similar 1.0 TDCi in the more-powerful 1.4 version for 14,795.0 TDI is also available in petrol or diesel versions, but these aren't as well-equipped as the diesel versions. The petrol version costs from 13,095, and the diesel from 14,295.

As well as petrol and diesel, there is a hybrid version of the 1.0 TDI which costs from 15,295. The hybrid comes with all-wheel drive and is a very economical way to travel.

So there are four versions to choose from - petrol, diesel, petrol hybrid and diesel hybrid. You could even get the more powerful 1.4 petrol version and pair it with the hybrid powertrain for a total of 19,095.

The Panda 4x4 is built on the same platform as the regular Panda 1.0, so it is a very similar size to the original Panda. It has a relatively small 3.6-litre engine. There is no turbocharger, but the diesel version comes with a supercharger to give it more power.

The engine is a 16 valve, 16-valve unit, which is a bit unusual for a car of this size. There are three petrol engines on offer: the 1.0, 1.4 and 1. The diesel versions have a different engine configuration. The 1.0 has three cylinders, while the 1.4 has four and the 1.6 has five.
