What engines does the Ram 1500 come with?

What engines does the Ram 1500 come with?

What engines can you get in a Ram 1500?

The answer is a lot. There are four different engine options in the Ram 1500: the 5.7-liter V8, the 6.4-liter V8, the 6.7-liter V8, and the 6.2-liter Cummins turbodiesel. You can also get a turbocharger for the V6 as well.

Let's start with the V8 engine options. First off, the 5.7-liter V8 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The 6.4-liter V8 is also mated to a 6-speed automatic. The engine makes 460 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission.7-liter V8 is mated to a 10-speed automatic. The engine makes 480 hp and 496 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with a 9-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode.2-liter Cummins turbodiesel is also mated to a 10-speed automatic. The engine makes 515 hp and 745 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Moving on to the V6 engine options, the 3.6-liter V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 305 hp and 276 lb-ft of torque. The 4.2-liter V6 engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 333 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The 5.4-liter V8 engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.7-liter V8 engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.2-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Why is RAM getting rid of the 5.7 Hemi?

The 5.7 Hemi is the best powerplant in the world for the truck market.

It is the most powerful truck engine and the highest torque engine on the market. But why are they getting rid of it? That's fine but why the move from the best powerplant in the world to this? Is there anything else that I am missing? Maybe the new truck has something else that is going to make it better? I'm not certain why it's been dropped. It has been rumored that if there is no competition for the new truck it could be used to get more people into the diesel market. You never know, it could be another power plant. But it has been the most powerful and highest torque engine in the world for quite some time.

Well I'm sorry but I think you're wrong. I think you're confusing the "Hemi" with the "High Performance version of the Hemi". The Hemi is the original engine and the High Performance version is a "bump-up" engine. They just changed the name to make it sound more powerful.

If they were to change the engine to a bigger engine I'd think they'd get rid of the "Hemi" engine name. I don't have any inside information, but it's just my personal opinion that it's not a mistake, but rather an effort to get buyers into the diesel market. If we can get buyers into diesel, it will help bring down the price of diesel and the prices of gas will go up.

They are using the "Hemi" name because it means "High Emission" engine. Diesel engines are always good because they have low emissions and more torque. The only reason that it uses a "Hemi" name is because it is the original engine. They could have called it something else and made a new engine.

Which Ram 1500 engine is best?

ram 1500 engine options Which Ram 1500 engine is best?

Hey guys! I've been lurking this forum for a few years now but I have finally decided to start posting (and buying) some new cars. I'm looking at the 2026 Ram 1500s, and the two main engine choices are the 6.7L Hemi V8 or 6.4L Cummins.

For me, I'm leaning towards the Hemi as I'd like a lighter truck in case I need tow something heavy and I'm curious how the trucks would handle. Of course, it depends on the trim levels (eg, the SLT, Laramie Longhorn 4x4) and engine options, etc.

What would you guys recommend? Is the 6.7L Hemi good enough to drive like a truck? Thanks in advance. Last edited by jamesnashua; 12-30-2013 at 08:14 AM. Reason: Please quote the entire post. Re: Best engine for my 2026 Ram 1500? I went with the Hemi, I also got the SLT in the Ftr cab. It handled and drove fine, it handles big hills better than I could stand, I just love it. It's an impressive truck. The interior is nice and the look of it is sooooooo nice. It's quiet and smooth and the diesel exhaust is nice. It handles and drives great, you have a lot of power, and it's fun to drive. It's my truck and I love it. I think the 6.7 L Hemi will drive and handle like a truck. That said, I would go with a 6.2L Cummins over the 6.7 Hemi.e. The 6.2 is just an amazing piece of engineering. This engine is in most of the trucks today, as it is very reliable, fuel efficient, and gives off the strongest of all the V8s. It will certainly out-drag any Hemi, too. Also, it can be tuned for increased torque as well as horsepower. The 8-cylinder makes a nice growl at idle, but has an incredible rumble at higher RPM. I personally think it sounds better than any Hemi at any RPM. It does, however, make a noise when coming down a long hill.
