The new Peugeot 208 in high demand
The new supermini has up to now received more than 7,500 orders since the vehicle was introduced for sale on the 28th of June this year. The 208 was awarded the 'Best Supermini in its Class' accolade at the New Car Awards 2012, held by Auto Express, and has a large and coveted range of features what motorists are obviously attracted to.
Peugeot explains that the 208 is available as either a three-door or five-door hatchback, with a wide range of diesel and petrol engines, and three levels of trim. The car manufacturer has attempted to combine all the best parts of it's previous models, whilst also improving on them; as a result the 208 is smaller on the outside but with a more spacious interior than the 207, and is also much lighter and aerodynamic, with a smaller steering wheel.
Marketing Director of Peugeot Ireland, Des Cannon, has said "The Auto Express Best Supermini award is the 208's first international accolade. We are confident it is the first of many awards to come.", whilst Marketing Director of Peugeot UK, Morgan Lecoupeur has added "It really has been a tremendous start for the car", and that he has seen an "incredible and positive response" to their new 208 model.
The 208 has also received a five star rating from NCAP, which gives the vehicle an excellent accreditation of it's safety. You can read the full Euro NCAP report here: http://www.euroncap.com/results/peugeot/208/477.aspx
