New Golf GTD boasts miniscule road tax charge

New Golf GTD boasts miniscule road tax charge
Volkswagen has recently released details of the new edition of the Golf GTD, which boasts both speed and efficiency, and as a result, also a tiny road tax charge.

Featuring a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine, the Golf GTD generates 181 bhp, and is capable of speeds of up to 142 mph. Acceleration sees the car go from naught to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds.

With such power under the bonnet, motorists would think that efficiency would be suffering. However, the Golf GTD can happily boast it's green credentials, producing only 109 CO2 g/km, and offering an mpg of 67.3. Therefore, road tax for the car is a miniscule £20 per year, and Volkswagen are actually reimbursing customers for their first year tax payment.

The Golf GTD is available now from Volkswagen, starting at £25,285. This price includes a manual gearbox, and is a 3-door model. However, for an additional £1,415 you can have a 6-speed DSG gearbox, and an extra £655 will net you the 4-door model.
