Is RAM discontinuing the ProMaster?
Is RAM discontinuing the ProMaster?
I have a 2026 pro master with an after market air compressor. The compressor has worked flawlessly for the last 5 years. It was installed about 5 years ago and everything was fine. The previous owner got a new job and the machine was left unattended for several months. When the owner returned to the machine he found that the machine would not turn on, and then eventually, the machine would power on with intermittent operation. The machine worked great for another 5 years until we had to have it serviced a few months ago. We have had the machine since then and the service technician noticed the fan spinning but wouldn't turn on.
We got the new compressor and hooked up the fan and it now works. The machine has a power light and the motor spins, but it doesn't spin at any speed. I've turned the breaker off and back on several times, but nothing seems to be working.
Have you checked the electrical connections? Is there continuity in the wiring that leads to the control board? I just bought an '05 Pro Master from RAM, and have a couple of questions. 1) I ordered the replacement ProMaster "Pump", but it looks like it is just a larger version of the original. Will this work with the existing control board? 2) Do I need the original pump/motor unit, or do I just install the new pump? 3) The service manual lists a few things that I do need to replace: A) Battery. B) Inverter module. C) Power switch. D) Control board. The service manual does not state anything about the relay box or wiring harness. It lists the connector as UZ-1.
Would these components need to be ordered from RAM separately? 1) I ordered the replacement ProMaster "Pump", but it looks like it is just a larger version of the original. 2) Do I need the original pump/motor unit, or do I just install the new pump? 3) The service manual lists a few things that I do need to replace: A) Battery. What is the mpg on a 2023 Ram 2500 ProMaster?
The Ram is rated at 13.6-13.7 mpg in the city and 9.2-9.8 in the highway. But what if I'm hauling a flatbed and need to use one of the trailer mounts for the flatbed to get it more stable? Will it still get good gas mileage?
When they designed the new 2500, the first two trims used the regular 6 cyl as a base while the third and all trim levels were built on an H6 (High performance) engine as the base. In the H6's the Vortec diesel is used as the base with the regular 6 is optional on the H6. Thus the 4.7 diesel is rated at 17 and the 6 cyl 6.7 is rated at 15. If you add the 6.7 or the 6 plus 4.7 together that's 26 or a little less. If you're using the high power 5.0 option the total with the 6 plus 6.7 plus 4.7 is about 27. They're a bit behind on the gas mileage until they can catch up but the combination of the power and high torque does pay off as well. There are so many options I don't know what to suggest, but if you want high mileage don't forget about the gas mileage and how it performs between the regular, extended, heavy duty, Super Duty etc.
With that said the 20XX 2500 is the same platform as the earlier 2026 trucks so the numbers will be much more similar than other trucks. The only changes made were a couple more wheel bearings and more aerodynamics and bigger tire sizes. For a short period of time they did have heavier fender flares for some of the truck series. If it was still available it may have helped on the highway, but not for the last few model years of the Ram. So if you have any concerns about MPG for any of the last few models I would say just go for it. All of them should perform in their categories just like all of the older models had.
No worries that's exactly what I figured. You're all going to say the power of all of them except the 1500 are equal and that's fine. It's good for me to know that it's all going to perform just the same.
One thing that concerns me though is how they plan to make a profit off of them.
