How fast does a Ram 1500 go from 0 to 60?
How fast will the new one be? We all know that it's the 4Motion that makes a Ram 1500 a super truck, but how much power does that get us? Read our latest dyno test to see.
While we have our eyes on the 2025 Dodge and Ram line-up, the trucks that sit between these two are likely to steal attention from their siblings thanks to their new and aggressive aesthetic. One of these trucks, however, may even surprise you with its performance. It's not quite as good as its sibling in the segment, but it's more than a match for the closest direct competitor.
2016 Ram 2500 and 3500. The new Ram 2500 is not a great change from last year. The Ram HD still doesn't come with a lockable tailgate, the only thing that's changed is the grille, wheel, bumper, and other minor details. If that's not enough for you, Ram made the new 3500 look like an all-new truck. The whole body has been redesigned, and even the bed has received a makeover that, honestly, adds a lot to the appearance. It is the most important element of the Ram 2500 and 3500, so we should give it our full focus.
If we should start discussing the exterior aesthetics, we'll do it in part. First of all, it has an almost completely new body design. The former round body was gone forever, replaced with something new that looks more modern. And there's also been a lot of visual improvement, just because it looks better all around. The truck gets three round chrome-accented taillights and a set of square ones on the sides. There are two vertical exhausts in the rear bumper and two air intakes in front. One in the front bumper is a dual circular intake that helps it run cooler, which should be a huge help for driving in hot parts of Texas.
On the inside, where things have changed a lot, you'll see a lot of wood or dark panel and light metallic accents in the interior. The wood trim on the dash is particularly nice and, like many other materials used in this interior, it comes from an old Ford pickup. However, all the wood is not solid; it's a faux leather look, which is very realistic but pretty heavy.
Is the Ram 1500 RT fast?
The Chevrolet is the best-selling vehicle in the United States for seven consecutive quarters. GM says the truck's record popularity is driven by reliability and durability, a big step forward in technology, great fuel economy, which is, of course, a testament to big or at least better than smaller trucks.
That Chevrolet pickup can run all day and go all day, as in 200-300 mpg. We've put a Ram 2500 with a six-speed automatic on a 100-mile endurance test and didn't break it. We put a new V-8 Ford (a Ford F-350) in a long test loop in 2025 and that new 6.8-liter V-8 truck clocked 205 miles.
Ram's own big truck is a winner in the most important category, long life. We've put this truck on our 40,000-mile annual test and it ran for 25,000 miles or two years without stopping. If you've ever gone on an RV trip, well, you know the story of the leisure-time trailer truck.
And you know it can be a challenge to buy a reliable truck to spend days and nights on the open road. If you do your research, then the Ram 1500 RT fits your budget.
Is it the Ram 1500 that makes long endurance trips possible? You'll know that, too, after you spend a few days behind the wheel. You'll have the satisfaction that comes with making memories with your significant otheror with a business associate. You'll talk on the phone or maybe go for a drive with friends.
If you are a truck driver, you need trucks. If you are a Ram Trucks owner, you also want Ram 1500s because of the experience and fun you can enjoy with them.
I want to say a special word about the 2025 Ram because it is a different kind of truck.

The floor plan provides enough cargo space for both pickup and SUV passengers to stand comfortably, though not all of the seats fold. The rear seatback and cushion areas are not large enough for tall passengers and are not adjustable.
2020 Ram HD 2500 Interior and Seating. In each heavy-duty model, the crew seats fold flat into the footwell for additional cargo capacity; the headroom is still adequate, and there is adequate legroom and good shoulder room. The 2025 RAM HD 2500 is offered in six colors. Darker earth tones are more suitable for work while lighter palates emphasize luxury. The heavy-duty pickups go on sale this spring. They have an EPA-estimated 20 mpg highway, 19 combined, and 16 city. The trucks can tow up to 10,000 pounds.
What We Like. All-wheel drive is standard in the heavy-duty pickups, giving them improved control of the truck in snowy or muddy conditions. The RAM HD 2500 also comes with available four-wheel steering. An available trailer sway assist control reduces trailer-induced body roll to improve handling and stability.
How fast will a Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi go?
How far? We found the right answer in an afternoon drive to the Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Arizona, then on the way back home we tested it to the big sandy beaches in Florida. With the Hemi-powered SuperCab version, we ran the numbers to find out just how fast and how far a Ram 1500 can really go.
