This powertrain will most likely be a carryover from the Ram 2500/3500 pickup, which will be getting replaced this time around. There will also be another engine in the light-truck segment. It's not going to be as powerful as the heavy-duty engine, but it should produce more torque than the previous generation's 3.6L V-6. It's likely going to be a turbocharged diesel or flex fuel engine, but a gasoline engine is possible as well. This engine will power the next-generation Fiat 500X, which will be launched later this year.

The other thing that is very likely is that the next-generation Dodge/Ram 1500 pickup truck will be a rebadged version of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
