I know everyone is going over this, but I want to ask a few people their thoughts. If a customer asks me if the new Ram 1500 Hemi is a 6.2L and I tell him/her no. Is it safe to say that we will never see the 6.2 in this vehicle?

If I answer yes, I don't want to look like a clown for telling the customer no when they ask. Can anyone tell me how Chevy has fooled dealers for 5 years, and they're still not sold out? They aren't going to get them sold just because "oh, they had one." They can make the best of it, or they can do nothing. But as long as demand exists, the market is not gonna drop.

I know my dealer has received multiple 5.7 and 6.2s, yet he claims he isn't sold out. So either it's a lie or it's a bluff.

Yes they do get made, I dont know how many dealers are selling them, my dealership has one and is ordering the next one! The problem with the 6.2 is it is a 4 door truck, while the RAM 1500 is a work truck. If Chevy gets the right mix of V8 engines then they will probably make more then the 6.2, and it will probably never be in a ram 1500 even though I know of at least one that will!

By John C. I am going to be running my stock 6.2L powerglide in a '69 and can only guess at the gearing of the Ram. Does anyone have any guesstimates as to the horsepower that can be drawn through a 6.2L Ram powerglide?

I know that I am able to pull about 150 ft lbs of torque from a stock '69 with the 6.2L but I don't know if I have a guess at the HP.

Do I have to estimate power at the flywheel to have a guesstimate on how much HP a 6.2L Hemi would generate in a Ram? What gearing will a '69 come with? Any help would be greatly appreciated. A '63 or '66 6.0 L would make approximately 360 ft lb. you should be able to run the transmission at the low range on your 6. To determine total horsepower use these numbers at 70 mph:

The engine is a little different from a stock Hemi but the 6.2 is a great power plant. The gear ratio is a little different but the stock is at the low end for the truck, and the truck should have good low end torque. You can find all the details here:

That might be the real issue. There was not a ton of room in the frame, especially at the rear end, and the frame is really short (I'd call it maybe just 3/8ths of an inch taller than stock) and the trans is short in height to the frame. I've been looking at a 6.2L '72 engine in a '74 chassis for a while now, but the problem is that it was made as a 5-speed. Then I figured that the same problem would apply, so I'll probably get a full frame kit and build a full frame to fit the engine and trans.

But I want to know what's going on in that engine, is it supercharged? Direct Injection? Is the cooling system different? The Ram 1500 is the king of pickup trucks when it comes to power. But I don't know if the engine itself is the best engine around or not.

What do you think? I could definitely go with a different truck but I just don't know which one yet. Also, do you guys have any recommendations for the parts that you guys think are necessary for a better performance/power pickup? I would be looking for the most powerful engine available, probably around 500hp and over 600 ft lbs. of torque. But how much horsepower does a 2024 Ram 1500 engine have?

Thanks! I drive a F150 and it can do like 500hp with an automatic trans. They only make the SuperCab V6, the 4x4 doesn't have that engine. The only reason I'm sure it's a v6 is from this webpage.

I don't know about what the cooling system is like in this truck but I know that the engine will use E85 fuel and I don't see how that would effect power output. Supercharging is done with turbos and there is no way of telling if this truck uses them or not. Diesel engines are very good at moving air and heat, so it is a safe assumption that it does.
