How long is the wait to build a Ford Maverick?
A quick read of the Ford factory manual reveals that it is a 3 day job. To get this process started, we have to build the engine, transmission and axle assembly, all of which are then fit together on a jig and then finally welded together into one complete unit.
In an attempt to provide some insight into the process of building the engine in a Ford Maverick, I had the opportunity to ask Greg Teply, Ford factory training and quality manager for the Maverick and F-150 programs, a series of questions regarding the process. When you first walk into the factory where the engine is being built, how long does it take to get to the point where it is ready for a build? Teply: We spend about two weeks setting up the engine and running the engine before we move on to building the transmission. We spend about three days building the transmission and then another week building the axle and fitting it onto the engine. So the whole process takes approximately five weeks.
What about the time between when the engine is finished being built and when it gets its first test drive? Teply: The first test drive will be done after the engine and transmission are done. Once the engine is done, we will fit the engine into the transmission and then the transmission will be bolted into the vehicle and then we will run it around the plant to make sure everything is fine. The engine runs for about a month before the transmission is installed and the vehicle is put on the road.
How do you ensure the integrity of the engine? Teply: The whole engine is built on a jig so it's built very carefully and we do some vibration testing on it. We also do a lot of testing of the head gaskets and camshaft bearings. The timing chain is lubricated on the jig.
How about the process of making a cast manifold? Teply: We spend about two days making a manifold out of aluminum. It takes about two hours per manifold. Then the parts are assembled in the transmission. They are made to spec and then run in the transmission for a couple of weeks. After the test drive, it is then inspected and we will mark any failures in the transmission. We will take the transmission and put it back in the vehicle.
How much will the 2024 Maverick cost?

What are the options? As far as the basic model, there's the standard car, a limited-edition version called the "Red and Black" edition, and a special edition called the "V10." The Red and Black edition is the best choice if you want the V10 with no other options. This version comes with the exclusive "Black" color scheme, black wheels, carbon fiber trim, a black interior, and a carbon fiber spoiler.
This year's Maverick is also the first to come with optional Active Yaw Control, which can be turned off or on at the press of a button. It can also be deactivated after a few miles, giving the driver full control of the car. This feature is great for those who drive on city streets.
Can I take delivery in the US? As far as the US is concerned, the only option is the "V10," which we already covered. However, deliveries are starting this month and will end in March, so there is a limited number of models available.
Does this mean that the standard model is sold out? The V10 will have a waiting list, but don't worry, you'll be able to order one soon enough. If you want to get the V10 and Active Yaw Control, start ordering now.
Is this worth it? A lot of people will tell you that if they have money to burn, then they should buy the V10. However, there are a lot of people who don't care about that kind of stuff, so the standard model will suit them just fine.
Are 2024 Ford Mavericks being built?

I just read about the new F150 that's supposed to be available by the end of 2025. Seems like a good time for the old Ford Maverick to make a comeback? This is probably a long shot, but I hope someone has some info on this.
So the truck will be called the Ford F-Series, not the F-150, and it'll be using the same powertrain as the Ford Super Duty, V8 turbo diesel, not the V6 twin-turbo diesel, and will have a 10 speed automatic transmission. I'll buy it even if they never make it. To me the F-Series/F-150 is a perfect "old school" truck. It's not a true pickup or a heavy duty vehicle. It's an all around truck with a full bed and a high roofline.
It's the only real alternative to the Ram 1500 and if they made one with the same powertrain as the Ram, it'd be a home run. The only other truck that has that sort of powertrain is the previous F-150.
Ford has stated that the next F-150 will not be a heavy duty, nor a true pickup. It will be an all-around, multi-purpose vehicle. It will share the same engine as the Super Duty.
I agree with you that it would be a very nice looking truck. My biggest problem is that I don't see the buyer demand there is for a high performance truck. I think we are on our own with that one. I would love to have the F150 in the same chassis as the F-150 that is coming in the early 2020s. They are not going to do that if they sell a high volume truck in the near future. They would rather sell a high volume truck that is the same as their other trucks.
I am excited about the 2025 F150 but I think it is going to be the last F-150 that will have the old style 4.5L V8 in it.
The F-150 is such a wonderful truck, its been around for almost as long as I have, and its just an awesome truck. But I'm afraid the F-150 will eventually be phased out by some company who is not Ford.

The first Ford Performance Division product to appear at the Los Angeles Auto Show was the Ford Performance Mustang Shelby GT350-Z. This car looks just like an American muscle car from the early 1970s, and if this is any indication of how the Ford Performance Division will handle their new performance products in the future, things are looking good for the new Ford performance division. In fact, Ford Performance already has some exciting news in the way of a release schedule and plans for the new performance products. The first product on that schedule was a Ford Explorer Racing product called the Ford Performance Explorer Racing. As exciting as this product may seem, it might actually feel more like its time in the sun once the 2025 edition comes out, but that's a bit premature.
For the moment, the best thing about this new product is how quick Ford was to get it into the market. This performance product is built for 2025. Its coming out in less than 4 years. If they can pull off something in 2025 that is nearly identical to the Explorer racing (which was released around this time last year), then Ford performance division has plenty of work to do.
The Ford Performance division is about improving the everyday consumer. The goal is to bring excitement to every day cars, trucks, and SUVs that a regular consumer will buy. These cars will be based on the current platform and give the impression that you are driving a performance model. There's nothing special about this new product, its just that it looks and feels good and runs fast with the same basic components that a regular consumer would choose to put in their vehicle.
One thing that is missing is an engine option. It makes sense as a base option as well, but it just feels really weird having a car without a base engine option. This vehicle makes it pretty clear that you can modify it if you want to, but for the most part, this vehicle would be bought as a stock vehicle. However, you don't have to be a complete tool to customize the looks of this vehicle, so that is something that isn't missing.
The base version of this vehicle starts with options, as the name implies. A 3.5L turbocharged V6 powers the vehicle along.
