Will Ram release an electric truck?
What will be the Range of the Ram 1500 EV?
If you've been reading this site for a while, you might recall that in June 2023, when the Nissan Leaf was first introduced, we predicted that the current Nissan Leaf (and any future Leaf) would have a range of 100 miles or more. Today, we have the 2023 Ram 1500, a truck with much larger fuel tanks and no need for regenerative brakes, and it makes sense to take a look at what the range will be for the new 2023 Ram 1500 and how far that will leave the range of the 2023 Nissan Leaf.
The first thing to know is that when the Ram 1500 was introduced in 2023, it was an all-new model, the 2023 model year, which means it was based on the latest design. As a result, the new Ram 1500 has more interior space and more exterior volume than the previous model year. More interior space means more cargo space, which means a longer range for the 2023 Ram 1500.
The range of the new Ram 1500 is about 50 miles higher than the range of the Nissan Leaf. For comparison, a short trip to and from work for an early adopter of the 2023 Ram 1500 could be around 25 miles, but the range is still above the range of the Nissan Leaf. That said, the Nissan Leaf is now the more practical choice.
Of course, since this is based on an all-new model, there's a chance that the range of the Ram 1500 could go up, as well as the price of the vehicle. If you're looking for a smaller-sized pickup, the new Ram 1500 could be for you. But if you're looking for the larger size, the Range will likely be similar to that of the 2023 Nissan Leaf.
How far can you go on a tank of gas? This is a simple question that deserves a simple answer. The range of the 2023 Ram 1500, just like the range of the 2023 Nissan Leaf, is based on the EPA range estimate. Based on the EPA range estimate for the 2023 Nissan Leaf, which is 105 miles, the range of the 2023 Ram 1500 is 112 miles.
But like the Nissan Leaf, the range of the Ram 1500 can vary by state. In Texas, the EPA range of the 2023 Ram 1500 is 107 miles. As a result, the actual range of the 2023 Ram 1500 is likely to be lower than that EPA range estimate.
Will Ram 1500 go electric?
With the release of the 2023 Ram 1500, Dodge unveiled what they call the "world's first fully electric truck," but is it really? Dodge teased a hybrid version of the 2023 Ram 1500 in a video released in June, and now the company is releasing its first set of details about the vehicle. With a release date of October 9, the 2023 Ram 1500 has already been made available to the public and dealerships. But what's not yet clear is whether or not it will be a plug-in hybrid or an all-electric model. Dodge didn't go into too much detail during the press conference, but did say that it's a "significant technology" that will allow the truck to achieve "more than 400 miles per charge." According to Auto Motor and Sport, this could possibly mean a pure-electric version.
The only way to know for sure is to take a closer look at the new truck, but if history is any indication, it will likely be a plug-in hybrid, rather than an all-electric truck. Plug-ins tend to offer less range, but are more affordable to the consumer. They're also much easier to operate on a daily basis and can fit right into the user's lifestyle. All-electric vehicles, on the other hand, tend to be a bit more difficult to operate on a daily basis. They also tend to be much more expensive to purchase, and they don't always fit into the user's lifestyle. If there's a trend that we've seen in the past with the segment, it's that the plug-in hybrids tend to be more popular, although many drivers still prefer the convenience and capability of all-electric vehicles.
I think Ram wants to have the best of both worlds. I believe the Ram 1500 will have an all electric version. As we know, Ram has no choice but to give it a go with this technology as it is being forced to comply with California standards. This new technology can also help Ram by lowering their fuel economy by having a diesel engine running less. While there is no electric version, the Ram 1500 will feature a 4.2 liter V8 that can achieve up to 40 mpg, and it's all thanks to the diesel engine. Ram promises that the diesel engine will be an improved version and that it will be more efficient than before.
I just love how they said "fully electric" truck.
How much will the electric Ram truck cost?
The electric version of the 2023 Ford F-150 is due to hit the streets later this year, and Ram 1500 buyers will be able to get their hands on it as early as late 2023. And while we won't know how much the all-electric truck will cost until Ford releases its official pricing, we can see a good idea of how much it will cost by looking at the electric version of the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Model 3.
And so, that's what I'm going to do here. I'm going to go ahead and take a stab at the pricing of the electric Ram 1500. I'm not going to do the same exact calculations as the Leaf and Model 3, but I think that the numbers are close enough to be a useful comparison.
Ford has said that the 2023 Ram 1500 will have a range of 300 miles and a top speed of 80 mph, and those numbers appear to be based on the EPA range ratings for the engine in the standard model. The electric version will likely be similar to the 2023 Nissan Leaf, which is rated for a range of 82 miles on a single charge. The 2023 Tesla Model 3 is expected to have a range of 215 miles, and if it's like the current generation of the Model S and X, the battery capacity will be around 60 kilowatt-hours.
Plugging these numbers into some online calculators, I was able to get a ballpark figure for the battery pack on the electric version of the Ram 1500.
Will Ram release an electric truck?
For those of you who don't know, last year the biggest surprise at the North American International Auto Show was a concept electric truck from Detroit called the Rivian. I've been hearing a lot about it over the last six months or so and it seems like Rivian will eventually be making an electric pickup for sale. The thing that is different about this pickup from other companies is that it has all sorts of novel designs such as the truck having a tent like canopy. That's not the most important innovation though, the most important innovation in the truck is that it will have a very powerful electric motor on the rear axle which will allow it to go much faster than the current trucks in its class. And it will be capable of getting up to 300 miles on a single charge. According to Jay Gillispie from Detroit, this truck will be coming out this year or next year. You can also see the truck in action in this video.
So it looks like for next year, a very innovative company will be making a pickup that goes 250mph. Of course if you want to go that fast, you're going to need a fast car. But this electric truck is still a very novel concept for the U. Because the idea of an electric truck isn't something we've heard before. It's something new. For us, at Ram Trucks, we've seen lots of other trucks doing cool stuff in the past, but we never thought a pickup could do such high speeds and have such great acceleration. We think this will be a game changer in the truck industry.
A couple of weeks ago, Ram Trucks introduced a limited edition truck called Eagle. Eagle is meant to honor all the things that make America great. One of those things is going fast and so we decided to put together a special truck with two motors, the electric motor and the gasoline engine. It turns out this truck can get up to 250 mph. This truck is going to be available to the public in mid-2019. You can also take a look at the video of the truck here. We think this truck is a very important project. We've made the first electric truck in the United States. This truck could start a revolution in the truck industry. It will open up some new possibilities for the truck industry.
Will Ram make an EV truck?
I would personally love to see a small electic truck that has a range of around 400 miles and comes with a plug in to run your vehicle on. I know its not much but if it could fit two people that would be fine, at the moment my truck is to big for me and my wife to drive. It would also have to be able tow something, I don't want it to come out of the shop every time I tow something and it is quite heavy.
You would need some kind of trailer and an electric motor to pull the trailer because you will get some serious windage if you are driving down the highway and pulling an empty trailer. That is something Tesla can do right now with their motors but that is probably more in the realm of a hybrid or diesel truck than a pure EV. There is a guy on YouTube who has an electric towing truck that looks fairly interesting and is able to pull a load. The problem with electric towing trucks is that they are very expensive, they need to be manufactured to withstand the weight and the weight is far too high to be powered by one small electric motor.
I would love to see an electric SUV or SUV type truck, I am looking at getting a Freelander from Land Rover and it will make a perfect eCab for me when I am done working. They will have an option soon for all Land Rover vehicles to be eCabs. Hopefully we will see some in showrooms before too long.
My biggest worry is that Toyota and other automakers keep delaying it, we can barely use our EV's right now and we have been waiting forever and a day for them. We were promised in 2023 that by 2023 we would have EV's and in 2023 we would have them in showrooms. I hope they don't get stuck on their game plan.
Here is a little video of what I am talking about, I am hoping they will become available on the market in 2023 as that would be a good year for electric trucks, I would like them to come out first in Japan then China then other markets. In the USA it is just a bonus because Japan and China own the majority of the market, once it becomes more popular in the USA they will be happy to put it on the market here.
