New Delhi, Jan. 11 (IANS) Ford Focus, one of the best-selling car brands in India, is set to make its return with a new hatch model in 2023. The new model of Ford Focus will be launched in India soon and will compete with the likes of Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Vios. The Focus has already become the first Indian car brand to be launched in China and also the second Ford model to be launched in China. In 2023, Ford sold more than 1.1 million Focus globally. The new generation Focus hatch promises to retain the current model's success.

According to J. Gowdakar, deputy managing director and CEO of Ford India, the new Focus will retain the same design and drivetrain as the existing model, but have been updated for better performance and fuel efficiency. It will be based on the same platform as the previous generation, so the same dimensions, powertrains and other parts will remain the same, he says.

The car will be offered with three petrol engines: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost unit producing 105.5hp and 116Nm of torque; 1.5-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost unit producing 155hp and 200Nm of torque; and the latest 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost unit producing 119hp and 150Nm of torque.

A turbocharged diesel engine will also be available, the company says. The new 1.5-litre turbocharged Ecoboost engine that is under development will be available later. The company is currently working on its 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which will be a direct-injection unit with three-cylinders.

To further boost sales, Ford will offer a new entry-level sedan with an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine and a choice of two diesel engines 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre, at a lower price point.

Ford India is also looking at introducing new variants of the existing model, with an option to be launched soon. We will have a more premium version, called Max, which will be the big brother of our existing variants, says Gowdakar.

Is Ford Focus Titanium a reliable car?

Question: Is the Ford Focus Titanium a reliable car? If you don't have to drive as much, then the Focus will keep you in a comfortable driving position, but for longer distances or if you go off-road, the Focus will be more efficient, particularly if you choose the six-speed manual transmission. Ford's focus is on efficiency so the Focus can get the most out of its engine and this makes it the most efficient car of the lot. The steering is light and crisp, and you can easily handle the heavy hatchback. However, the Focus does suffer from the annoying noise caused by the transmission. This may not be as bad as what you'd see in bigger cars, but at times it is a little unsettling.

Also, the air-conditioning in the Focus might be a little bit on the cold side, but it is still effective at cooling the cabin. The downside is that the A/C vents are small and sometimes difficult to reach, but they are easy to get used to.

The Focus has also been known to suffer from annoying oil leaks, which need some attention. The other major disadvantage of the Focus is the size of the trunk. It is quite small and so you will never be able to accommodate your daily needs, such as groceries or even bags of clothing.

It doesn't help that the large boot does not include a lid. This means that the spare wheel cannot be put inside and has to be removed for normal use.

However, if you are looking for a car that has the best interior design, the Ford Focus Titanium has the potential to meet your requirements. The leather and suede in this top-of-the-range model is soft and easy to handle.

The Focus Titanium's large trunk is better for storing the daily items. The car feels well built and while it might not be as solid as the previous models, it will serve you well. The ride height is good and the high-tech suspension is efficient enough to cope with the rough road surfaces, but the engine will not be as quiet as it is in the lesser models. The six-speed automatic transmission is slow and noisy.

But when all is said and done, the Focus Titanium might be the right choice for you, and you will not be disappointed.
