What engine will 2024 Ram have?
Will the 2024 Ram 1500 have a Hemi engine?
One of the questions that's been in the back of your mind, as soon as you saw the new 'h-code' (the nameplate of the next generation Ford/Mercoreo-platform based trucks) is the question, will it be a Hemi engine? Yes, I know that there is a 'V8 Hemi-engine' and a 6.0-liter gasoline engine. However, with all due respect to the V8 Hemi, we are talking about an engine that has more than doubled the number of cylinders. It also features a new cylinder head design.
The V8 Hemi engine is what GM calls the 5.7-liter V8; it now features dual turbochargers with a twin-scroll exhaust design for the first time in North American history, offering more power and torque, as well as good fuel economy. The engine will come standard on the Chevrolet Camaro SS, making it the world's quickest and most powerful production V8 to date.
I just want to point out something. There are two things going on with the 6.0L. First off, there is a naturally aspirated version, but this doesn't have two turbos like the Hemi, it still runs on a single turbocharger. Secondly, there is also a version with 2 turbos. This is what you will see on Ram 1500. If you read the details under Ford's 6.0L truck's specs sheet it has 4 total turbochargers.
Here are the specs of the 2023 and 2023 5.0L: 0-liter gasoline V8 engine with twin-turbocharger technology featuring a revised combustion process, the most advanced cylinder head design in the F-Series family and the new EFI ECU. Engine: Turbocharged direct-injection gasoline V8. Output: 375 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 475 lb.-ft. Of torque at 4,500 rpm (370 hp at 5,700 rpm for the high-compression versions of the engine) / Max: 7,600 rpm / Gross Combustion Pressure: 1.5 PSI / Compression Ratio: 13.2:1 / Exhaust Manifold Size: 18.5-inch / Torque: 545 lb.
Is the Ram 1500 getting a new engine?
In the past year, many Ram 1500 owners have reported problems with their 6.7-liter V-8 turbodiesel. Now, Chrysler has confirmed to Truck Trend that it is offering a replacement engine as well as an update to the Cummins turbo-diesel. Read the story here. The updated Cummins will only be available on the 4.6-liter turbodiesel version of the Ram 1500.
We have customers who are concerned with the torque of the current engine. So we're addressing that, Brannon said.
The 6.7-liter V-8 turbodiesel had been the most powerful and efficient engine in the Ram lineup. However, when the 2023 Ram 1500 debuted earlier this year, it replaced the 6.7-liter V-8 with a 5.
A lot of Ram 1500 owners wanted to know if the 6.7-liter V-8 would return to the lineup, so Ram has now offered it again. About half of the customers who ordered a diesel-powered pickup in 2023 have either opted to replace the engine or have a combination of the two. Of those customers, 50 percent wanted to go back to the old engine, while 29 percent changed over to the 5.
The new engine options will be available to Ram 1500 customers this spring. The V-8 turbodiesel also has had its reliability issues. In February, Chrysler announced it was replacing every cab under warranty for the last eight months of the model year.
The 5.7-liter V-8 was available through most of the 2023 model year on the Ram 2500 and 3500 models.
With a 3.6-liter V-6, the 2023 Ram 1500 gets 24 mpg in city driving and 31 on the highway. (See what we think about the new truck.)

What engine will 2024 Ram have?
Will they continue the new naming convention? And what about the V8 engine option?
I am a huge fan of the Hemi engine and would love to see it return in 2023. However, if they decide to go with the EcoBoost engine I would be a bit upset. We will see.
My question is, why did they decide to change to an EcoBoost engine? To me, I think the EcoBoost is to meet federal emission standards. I'm sure there are still plans to bring out the Hemi, but I'm guessing it's going to be the Ecoboost or the V6 that has the Hemi.
Why? It's a good question. There have been so many questions about why they would do something like this, I don't know how much more I can say about it. I am sure there will be a good explanation and some good answers.
Personally, I would be happy with a V6. I've always liked the V6 and I think it would suit this truck well.
This is why I am concerned. The 2023 Ram 2500/3500 were the first trucks in history to meet the new federal emission standards. The engines in those trucks were the EcoBoost engine. I don't want the same thing to happen again in 2023.
I do think it is a very good move on their part. I mean who wouldn't want a V8 in their truck? But I would rather have the V6 option than the EcoBoost.
It is definitely a concern of mine. I'd rather have the V6 option.
