Now this I got no idea about. The problem is, it was in a wreck. The transmission was busted and it had a missing hood. He would have to replace everything or turn it into a bob-tail. The motor was in bad shape.

I told him he should make some money off it and put the money into the restore if he needs to and to fix all the little things like the hood or even replace it if he needs too. He seemed like he could care less and just wanted the money. That has always been my personality since I was a kid. I do what I want, and I don't worry about anyone but myself. I know I'm biased, but this is my truck, that's my baby! I've driven it every single day since it was restored to a new level of drivability. It's my baby! It's a 1972 1/2 ton pickup. I bought it when it was just about done being restored.

I love it. I haven't really driven much else lately but this thing. And yes, I've driven lots of new trucks.And have owned many used trucks.But these old trucks are different. They are just special.

My dad had a 76 Chevy S10 back in the day. He actually bought it in the late 60's, restored it up, then drove it from the early 70's until he passed away last year. My brother drove it around from time to time from then to now.

The thing he did best was pull and haul for any reason, and drive it daily for years and years. And it was the smoothest ride he ever had, the perfect balance between heavy and light. And it felt good, you just knew it had no issues.

OK, it's a good question, and it seems I actually need to write a small bit on how best to answer this! I think it has two issues: firstly and most importantly, whether you should 'rent' the vehicle or buy it? Secondly, what sort of conditions are you after in such a vehicle? Does it have to be reliable & cheap for you, or does it have to be reliable for you, and cheap for others? There's lots of ways to respond. If it's for your business - as in you use it in your workplace to visit clients or customers - the key is reliability; if you use the bus service you don't really care what sort it is. It just gets you from A to B. A similar attitude applies to cars used in personal circumstances. It doesn't matter what sort it is, you simply need it to do the job. If it's for your business, the 'cheap for others' and 'reliable for others' come into the equation. Asking about the service conditions the thing that often makes people decide not to buy secondhand is whether the seller is providing adequate support. So the second hand car salesman will sell his goods more cheaply if he doesn't provide any servicing or warranties on his second-hand car stock. Many buyers will pay up to the value of a new one on that basis.

So for your questions: 1) Where it's for you to use & need, there is nothing inherently wrong with buying it used - certainly not in a country where you can do so at a low enough cost. Even if you are not going to keep it for long, buy it cheap and you are doing nothing wrong by buying. What is potentially bad if you make an uninformed decision is that you may sell it back for more than you paid, if the market becomes hotter at a particular time of year.
