I think your best bet would be to wait until the next release of mplayer and you will get the tremor support in mplayer. Also there is a program called "xgl-video" that I have used to play videos before that uses a tremor driver and you can get it from Hope this helps, I am currently using the ubuntu 7.04 and the new release of mplayer will have the tremor support. The Maverick is one of the most popular packages available, and it's certainly not because of the name, or the packaging (the original was a square). It's because of the performance. At the time of the initial release, I was skeptical. I wondered what all the fuss was about. I tried the package, and I didn't like it. I didn't like it at all. I just couldn't get used to it, no matter how hard I tried. In my opinion, the package doesn't offer any noticeable improvement over the standard set of software. But that's not to say it can't be useful. It can. And in many cases it's definitely worth the cost.

You will not be disappointed with the Maverick set of software if you are used to the standard set. I can't speak for all the features in this package, but I will mention the ones that I use most often.

The first thing that strikes me as different with the Maverick is that there is no need to configure your sound card. You do not have to set the defaults, or do anything. It just works. For example, if you want to turn on the "sound effects" in Windows, it's just a matter of clicking a button. If you prefer to have more sound options, you just click on the option you prefer, and then click the "Play" button. And when you're done, simply click the "Stop" button, and all the sounds you've played go away. It's very simple. The controls are also all conveniently located on the top bar. The sound effects are easy to activate and control. If you have a laptop, this is a very handy feature.

Another very important difference between the standard set of software and the Maverick is the ability to choose a default resolution and size for the screen. You don't have to worry about the size and placement of the icons, or the size of the buttons. You just click the option you prefer, and the software handles the rest. This is especially helpful when you're using the set of software on a laptop. It's a lot easier to use the software on a laptop than it is on a desktop. There are fewer things to worry about when you're using the software on a laptop, and they can be placed more easily.
