Toyota's new RAV4 unveiled
Toyota are pushing the angle that the new model is more efficient and environmentally friendly. According to the Japanese car manufacturer, this efficiency has been made possible by using less fuel, thus lowering emissions. Despite being an SUV, the new model is also more like a car. It is wider, longer and sits lower than an SUV, also having a single wheelbase, but still enjoys the ground clearance needed for a raised sitting position, and ability off-road.
The interior of the Toyota RAV4 has also been significantly upgraded, following on from the 2013 Auris. Thanks to the wider wheelbase, there is an improvement in interior space. Touchscreens are featured as standard, with the dash being split into two sections. The interior trimmings have also been upgraded, with more leather and soft plastics being integrated into the design. The seating has also been upgraded, with the driver's seat having more options for adjustment, and other seat positions being lowered to increase the comfort level.
Available in both two and four wheel drive models, all models also feature a 'Sport' mode. Engines available are two diesels, a 2.2 litre 148bhp and a 2 litre 122bhp, and a petrol 2 litre 149bhp. Prices have not yet been confirmed, but the RAV4 is due to go on sale this December. Deliveries are due to commence in March 2013.
