To come up with the most representative list of vehicles in the four segments, we considered several parameters such as affordability, durability, reliability, handling, fuel economy, and other considerations. Ultimately, the criteria included was a balance between factors that make a great commercial vehicle and those that are essential from a truck segment.

So, based on all of these analyses, here's what the list looks like: Full-size. The Ford F-Series, Ram 1500, and Silverado were at the top of the list.

Based on its popularity, we expect the F-150 to hold steady at the top for the fourth year in a row. In 2024, it has already crossed the 3 million sold threshold. For good measure, a new diesel engine option for the F-150 is anticipated.

Compact. From the Chevy Trax to the Fiat 500X, there's no shortage of vehicles available. But this list is really about the top three sellers in the compact segment - even though there is a fourth.

The Mazda3 and the Honda Civic were tied at the top. Both compact, these vehicles carry a reputation for dependability, safety and affordability; so when looking at a compact commercial vehicle, all buyers really want is solid performance in a compact package.

Midsize. For many, the decision to choose a midsize as a truck or class will mostly depend on the availability of a local dealership. And while our list only includes North America models, you can be sure there are hundreds of choices in the world to make your decision.

Both the Ford Super Duty and Ram Trucks were selected as the best selling trucks, but there were no clear ties. In terms of durability, affordability, and reliability, it comes down to which truck offers more value for your hard earned dollar.

Utility. Of course, not everyone can have a minivan at the grocery store, but almost everyone can use a pickup or SUV to transport the goods inside.
