What is the book value of a 2015 Ford Fiesta?
Is it worth buying a second hand Ford Fiesta?
The answer depends, and is probably not in the positive. We were recently sent an email asking for our opinion on the market price of second hand and used Fiestas, after we responded back to the individual, we received a mass-email with nearly 300 emails, we are obviously not going to all respond back to every single person but we aim to provide as much advice to the reader as possible without breaking up the email too much.
The first point you should think about is how to actually get hold of a second hand/used Fiesta. After looking around the net for a little while there is very little evidence to show that a used Fiesta is actually worth buying (at least not over the cost of a second hand equivalent car). On average, we found that used Fiestas to be selling at 300 - 450 less than the new models. This is the lowest selling cars out there so therefore you may better off trying to get a bargain on a new car.
There is also some information out there on Ebay that people have bought their second hand Fiestas (especially for the past few years) have sold for well over the cost of the second hand model and therefore has been a disaster for them. There is very little difference between buying a car on Ebay and buying one locally. It comes down to price bargaining, finding out if the seller is reliable, how much you want it and whether it is in good condition.
If you are going to buy a car from Ebay then keep this in mind that it is always best to get the car from a UK vendor, although they are known for being the cheapest dealers, this can still bring a high margin when you sell the car on and take into account the high cost of shipping it. If you are not looking to buy from Ebay, you should be looking for a local dealer in your area (check the MSE site for prices). Our Opinion: We have personally bought and sold our Fiestas and know what to look for, what we don't recommend is buying a car from Ebay for the following reasons. Buying From Ebay. You won't be getting the same level of aftercare that a dealer would give you.

How much should I pay for a Ford Fiesta?
There are a few different figures bandied around for it, but we've done the work and looked at the main data, to find out how much it actually costs to buy your very own Ford Fiesta.
And you should be paying about 6,000 for the cheapest car. Our figures are based on average annual fuel costs. A 5 litre diesel petrol costs us 4.90 per litre, equivalent to 41.8mpg. An economy diesel (ED) variant comes with a lower price tag, at around 3.50 per litre. If the car has a 2.0-litre petrol engine, costs will be higher at around 6.40 per litre for a petrol car, or around 55.4mpg. Hybrid is even more expensive at 7.10 per litre, roughly 62. There's not a lot of value for money there, with hybrids rarely getting any type of discount when buying and leasing.
If you're looking for a low cost option, diesel is your best bet - you'll be paying more than 500 less per year if you buy a 30 discount on a diesel model. At this price, you'll need to keep an eye out for any small discounts though, as they'll not be huge.
The cost of petrol and diesel is increasing as it stands. We've seen big increases over the last 12 months, and we can expect to see more in the next 12 months. However, hybrids are priced significantly higher, so the same savings are not really available.
You're better off looking into discounts, where you could get your purchase price down to somewhere between 4,000 to 4,500, depending on the age of the vehicle. It's also good to be aware of any free services available too, like roadside assistance and fuel cards.
On the other hand, if you're wanting something for just over 5,000, then a hybrid could be a good way to save a bit of cash. They're priced closer to their petrol and diesel counterparts, so if you were looking to save about 500 a year, this could be an option. If you're looking at a higher price range, then it could be worth saving up for the top-end variant of a hybrid.
