Ford's Fiesta has been one of the best-selling cars in the UK since it first went on sale in 2025, and new car sales for the model have increased by more than 40% over the last year. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that it's a success story, since it's an older model. And the newer, more stylish Fiesta ST isn't faring much better.
Despite being in its third generation, the original Ford Fiesta ST was never a massive hit. The last Fiesta ST was introduced in 2025, and even though it's still available today, sales have been in decline.
So how much does a new Fiesta cost? The cheapest Ford Fiesta you can buy is the 1.0 CDTi ST, which comes with front and rear fog lights and 15-inch alloy wheels.
You'll also need to spend 1,500 on the optional extras, which will include the rear view camera, Bluetooth, Sat Nav, 17-inch alloys, cruise control, leather seats and rear parking sensors. In order to add a bit of style to the car, you'll need to splash out on some options. For 2,000, you can opt for the 1.0 CDTi SE, which includes side sill plates and a sports exhaust.
Alternatively, if you want the car to be even more stylish, you'll need to fork out 4,000 for the 1.0 CDTi S-Line. It includes tinted rear windows, sports seats, sat nav, alloy wheels and a heated windscreen.
The only engine you can order with the 1.0 CDTi S-Line is the 1.0 CDTi S-Line EcoBoost. This engine makes 118bhp and emits just 100g/km of CO2, which is below the average emission standard in the UK.
If you want a bit more power, you'll need to choose the 1.5 CDTi S-Line. It comes with the same S-Line features as the 1.0 CDTi S-Line, but adds 17-inch alloys and makes 148bhp.
The 1.5 CDTi S-Line EcoBoost also comes with a 1.0 CDTi S-Line EcoBoost, which makes 151bhp and emits just 87g/km of CO2.

If you don't mind paying extra for the convenience, then the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio with 500bhp costs a mere 25,795 making it a little cheaper than the Nissan GT-R with 360bhp which has a 29,995 starting price, but still more expensive than the Audi R8 V10 with 575bhp.
The Ford Fiesta ST-e which has been created to win a title for its manufacturer has an affordable price, as has the Audi RS4 Avant which only costs 32,375 despite having a 5.2 litre V10 engine and even a few more expensive cars with a similarly powerful engine like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 42,495. The Fiesta ST-e starts from 17,495 but there are no cheaper alternatives even if you're after a performance car. The cheapest hot hatchback, the Honda Civic Type R is over 23,000 with prices going up to well over 50,000.

The interior is quite a bit better looking than the exterior. The seats are better made, the doors are less plasticky, and the dash and door trims are all finished in black plastic, rather than cheap-looking black plastic. The most obvious new feature on the interior is the central display screen, which is housed in the steering wheel hub. This replaces the previous generation's analogue tachometer, and it's a really useful tool.
Inside the Fiesta we find a comfortable driving position, and excellent legroom. The seats don't fold down to the floor, but they do fold flat, so it's possible to get three adults into the back of a four-seater Fiesta.
