Is Hino Motors owned by Toyota?
Is Hino made by Ford?
I'm not asking you to tell me anything, but I'd appreciate it if you would take the time to read this, as well as the pictures below. I know a little about cars, but I do not know the details about cars, and I am getting involved in the discussion with another car enthusiast. This is where I need your help.
He told me that when he saw a Hino on the road, he had a big smile on his face. Now, my car was originally a Ford, but then I bought a Lincoln Towncar. Since then, I have been interested in the Japanese cars and in the Toyota, as well as in the Mazda's and the Subaru's. The problem with the Mazda's and the Subaru's, is that they are expensive. It's funny, but if I tell you the price, I feel ashamed.
I'm not telling you this for bragging, but to keep you in the loop with my cars. I've seen a Hino at the Auto Fair in Long Beach, and they had the best seats in the car. They were the "V".
The car looks just like the other Hino's, but I've never seen one of these. He thinks that maybe it was built by Ford, but I'm not sure.
All I know is that he says, "They make great cars, and I love them." I did some research, and I found that the Hino was originally made by Ford. After the bankruptcy of Ford, I was a bit confused, but then I came to the conclusion that the Hino was still made by Ford.
I've never seen one of these, and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. There was a company called American Motors Corporation which owned the Hino brand from 1970 to 1976. During this period, the Hino name was used on many different models, but all made by Nissan. I think the original Hino was a front wheel drive car with a flat tappet camshaft.
If you want a real gem, one of the best looking cars ever made, look at the early Nissans. The '70s were a good time for Japanese car companies.

What is the Hino Motors controversy?
At the end of May this year, a group of disgruntled Hino Motors employees posted an open letter on a popular internet bulletin board. It started like this: Hi! We are Hino Motors workers. We would like to voice our grievances about our working conditions.
We have already tried to report our problems to upper management. However, they seem to care more about their bottom line than our lives. Their responses are always the same. They say that it is a matter of team spirit. They claim that it is a result of the company being successful and that we need to be grateful for all that we have.
We do not have the same sentiments. A few more sentences, and the letter's tone changes: As we are writing this letter, Hino Motors has sent us back to work without any compensation, in spite of our being on light duty for three months. When we asked why, we were told that there was no job for us, that were lazy. We ask why? Why are we supposed to be lazy? Because we have lost our jobs? This is what we call greed. It is all about greed. Nothing about team spirit. Nothing about helping us recover from serious injuries.
This is our life. We cannot even take care of ourselves. We have lost everything. We are so ashamed. We are just like dead bodies without a pulse.
We have no hope left. Our future has been taken away from us.
What we want is the money that is rightfully ours. We will fight for this right, but we cannot do it by ourselves. We can only work with one another. We are all Hino Motors workers. We are one family. We must work together.
With all sincerity, we wish you well. We hope that things will change.
The letter garnered public attention, in part because of its emotional honesty and, to some, its eloquence. In an interview with The Daily Yomiuri, the letter's author, Tetsuji Nakamata, said that he had been pressured into signing the letter by his senior managers, though he now regrets it.
Is Hino Motors owned by Toyota?
As I mentioned in my previous post, Toyota is the #1 auto brand in America. When Toyota makes cars, the world takes notice. Toyota is now attempting to bring the same wow effect to the minivan category. It will take quite a few years for Hino Motors to gain such a high profile as it has with the Toyota brand.
First things first, the Hino brand actually isn't Toyota's. Toyota was the first manufacturer to introduce a commercial truck and it was marketed as Hino Truck Corp. In the U.S. (Hino in Japan). The last time I checked, Hino was still based out of Japan. However, the name has been used by Toyota Truck Corp. Since 1985.
Toyota had a major problem with minivans when they were introduced. They were considered too small and not well-suited for families with many kids. To fix this problem, Toyota introduced the Eco-mode feature that allowed the minivans to have a low profile, and added more cargo room. I would guess that the main reason Toyota was able to launch a hit vehicle was that they knew they had a name brand vehicle on their hands.
Hino Motors was founded in 1959 as a manufacturer of tractors and other commercial equipment. In 1968, the founder established a separate business from the tractor division and began producing light trucks and minivans. The light trucks are basically station wagons, while the minivans are designed to resemble sedans.
In 1992, Hino introduced its first minivan, the Hino City, which was considered a failure. They followed that with the Hino Vigor in 1994 and the Hino Elantra in 1996. The Elantra was a hit and became their best-selling minivan to date.
For some reason, I don't think I ever heard the Hino brand mentioned when discussing Toyota and Honda. But I know people who have, so it must have some merit. But if the name has value, why would Toyota bother changing it?
Toyota was first when they introduced minivans. It wasn't until 1990 that Honda got into the market.
