Who is the largest car dealer group in Europe?

Volkswagen Group

I am confused with some of the information on the VW Group website. Where in Europe are there over 50,000 VW dealers? Also, I have heard that in the United States, only about 3,000 VW dealers sell VW. Is that true? If so, why is it so?

When you say "", do you mean that you can't find any more dealers? Or, is this a marketing ploy for European customers to choose their dealer? I think you are referring to the number of dealership locations in Germany, where a Volkswagen dealer would be a Porsche or Audi dealer. In fact, there are no VW dealers in Germany.

VW in the US has a little less than 3000 direct dealers. However, you would have to consider that the vast majority of the VW dealers are part of one of 3 VW dealerships (Porsche, Audi, etc) and that not all of those dealers have to sell VW cars.

If that were the case then they wouldn't have the VW Car Dealer Group? I guess I didn't really understand your question. However, you would have to consider that the vast majority of the VW dealers are part of one of 3 VW dealerships (Porsche, Audi, etc) and that not all of those dealers have to sell VW cars.

What are the biggest car selling sites UK?

largest car dealership groups uk reddit What are the biggest car selling sites UK?

We all know that websites like Carnext and Gumtree are good places to look for a new car, but do they really have a chance against more established sites such as Autotrader or Edmunds? The big three of UK car selling websites are Auto Trader, Autotrader and Edmunds. How do they compare to each other and to the rest of the market? As they're a massive part of the car market it makes sense to take a look at where they are when it comes to sales, market share and traffic. So, let's take a look at some numbers for you. Sales (2016). Auto Trader (16,074). Autotrader (14,942). Edmunds (12,037). TopGear (9,058). Other (5,895). Total (33,638). Market Share (2016). Auto Trader (23.8%) Autotrader (22.2%) Edmunds (21.1%) TopGear (19.6%) Other (22.4%) Total (55.5%) Traffic (2016). Auto Trader (3,726,066). Autotrader (3,934,967). Edmunds (3,943,500). TopGear (2,932,827). Other (2,898,847). Total (10,735,715). Market Share (2016). Auto Trader (12.8%) Autotrader (14.8%) Edmunds (13.7%) TopGear (11.5%) Other (14.2%) Total (49.

What is the largest automotive dealership group?

How about the second largest?

How about the third largest? I'm guessing, if we are really good at math and we take out all the numbers that were reported on a number of occasions (but never audited or verified), then it would be difficult to say that any given automaker is truly the largest in the world. There may be some that you cannot name but they are far from largest.

I would suggest that no one is the largest. I believe that the number of units sold is what really matters, but even that number is difficult to come by. In the USA, we often look at sales numbers in the states that represent the largest number of units sold. I do not know if there are any other criteria for a dealership to get this rating.

The largest group, according to the most recent figures published by Automotive News, is Volkswagen with just over 2.3 million sales worldwide. You can find this data in two places. The first is the full magazine article from last week. The link is at the bottom of this page. The second is the magazine's website which also has a link at the bottom of this page.

The second largest group is the Renault-Nissan Alliance with approximately 2.27 million sales worldwide. This figure includes the Renault brand, which counts all Renault models, not just the Nissan ones. There is some confusion with this alliance but they are not splitting up and have been operating as one since 2025.

The third largest group in the world (and the largest in the United States) is Chrysler with just over 1. You can find a link at the bottom of this page.

In the UK, this is how many cars were sold per dealership in 2025, with the Ford nameplate excluded, based on the data in the following links: You can see that the top 3 is very different from the US - Ford isn't even in the top 10 and Aston Martin is ahead of Bentley. My personal best guess is that Honda, Toyota and Hyundai are probably the biggest manufacturers with sales in excess of 5 million per year. If you believe their claims, then these are the brands with the highest market share in each country in the world.

So, let's take a look at the largest automotive dealership groups in the world, excluding Ford and Volvo.
