Huge boost in Bentley jobs with announcement of new model
The luxury carmaker is set to make an investment of £800 million into the production of it's new model, which will be an SUV - the company's first foray into producing such a vehicle. The manufacturing of the new model, currently yet-to-be-named, will take place at Bentley's Crewe plant, and is due to begin in 2015, and go on sale in 2016.
Bentley has seen much growth in the last few years, with sales increasing by 37% in 2011 alone. They are sure to want to double this amount when their new offering comes to market.
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, recently visited the Crewe factory, in order to bask in the glory of new money being pumped into the British economy. He praised the automotive industry during his visit, and mentioned the launch of his Automotive Industrial Strategy, which was launched earlier on this month, and has plans to help develop alternatives to petrol and diesel engines. He also seemed delighted with the prospect of a thousand new jobs being made, as well as possible apprenticeships.
Bentley Motors are owned by the Volkswagen Group, and the chairman of their board, Dr Martin Winterkorn, commented: "Bentley fans all around the world are looking forward to the brand's first SUV. Together we will make this new Bentley another true Bentley - powerful, exclusive and successful."
