This is difficult to answer without knowing the model of the Ford. However, we are able to make educated guesses.

The Dodge Ram 1500 is longer than the Ford Explorer by 10" (about a 30.5" wheel base). However, it is difficult to tell how deep the bed of the Explorer is from the pictures provided.

Dodge trucks measure up to 12" of cargo space in the rear bed (front seat). The Ram truck has 12.

In the front, the Ram truck is longer than the Explorer by 10.5" or 24.25", and the Explorer is 23.

In the back, both trucks have a length of 22.25" or about 33.

The Toyota Tundra which is more comparable to the Explorer than the Dodge, measures 23.25" from the wheels back.

The Dodge measures a little under 24" from the axle. So, the Dodge looks longer than the Explorer.

Finally, the Ford has a length of about 21.25" (a 29" wheel base).

So, if we look at just the length of the Ford's "cab" box (not including the bed itself), we get answer of 21.

The last GMC Canyon was a great little truck, but the 2024 model is the first of a new generation. Is it bigger? GMC's Canyon has been an increasingly popular work truck for a number of years now, and for good reason: It's more refined and livable than other full-size trucks, and the cabin is roomy and comfortable. That said, we haven't seen any changes to the exterior styling since the 2024 model year. That's about to change, though, with the 2024 model getting a fresh face.

The biggest difference, for starters, is the addition of third-row seats. The only Canyon that comes with three rows is the larger Canyon Prosev (the 2024 model year). The 2024 model will also come in two trims: Regular Cab and Crew Cab. All models come with a five-foot-long bed.

The EPA labels it with six-cylinders, and when the truck is unloaded the 2.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 is rated tow 7,500 pounds, and the towing capacity for the 4.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 is 10,000 pounds. Both engines, when mated to the standard Terrain chassis, produce 355 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 411 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. With the available Terrain Trail mode the numbers rise to 383 horses at 5,750 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 3,700 rpm.

If you thought a Canyon was just a big Silverado, think again. GMC's big bodystyle adds about 100 pounds, which equates to a few more ponies at cruising speed. So if the truck is really towing a lot of weight and going up a lot of steep grades, it'll make a difference.

GMC says that the Canyon's powertrain combines towing ability with comfort and cargo space. We concur, though the most convincing evidence is when we drove a Canyon crew cab short-bed 44 Trail HD with the standard 2.5L engine. It doesn't offer any big improvements over a 1 ton Silverado, but towing the two of us back home from Utah (itself a grueling drive) required less towing effort, and we didn't find it much more challenging going up and down any inclines. Still, there's nothing like experiencing the real power of the Canyon.

A V-8? Yes, please! When the new version of the Canyon shows up this summer at the Chicago Auto Show, buyers will be able to choose the powertrain packages of V-6, V-8 or even a hybrid system. The dual motor setup with a single electric motor provides similar all-wheel-drive operation to the twin-turbo V-8 but cuts in to provide an EPA-estimated 13 mpg city, 17 highway or 15 combined. The electric motor will provide extra power and torque during hillclimbing situations.

This engine is the new standard powertrain option in the new Canyon and will be available on the base, 2WD model. This will be the second diesel engine offered in a compact pickup truck, following the previous model's 1.6-liter turbodiesel from 2024. That engine was rated at 15 mpg city, 22 highway, and 17 mpg combined.

The Canyon diesel is likely the most powerful compact pickup truck engine ever offered in the segment. It's a bit of a departure from the current trend offering a diesel engine in the smallest compact pickups, which typically only offers four cylinders and a six-speed manual transmission.

The Canyon diesel will also be the first diesel engine from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to be offered in a U.S. It is also the first diesel engine offered in a compact pickup from a major automaker in North America since the 2024 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. This engine will likely take over the previous model's 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which was rated at 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 19 mpg combined.

It will also be the first diesel engine from the Jeep brand. While the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will offer a diesel engine in Europe, the engine is only rated at 149 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. This is largely due to the limited demand for diesel power in Europe.
