Does the Ford Maverick really get 40 MPG?

Does the Ford Maverick really get 40 MPG?

By David R. Baker I recently drove a 2025 Ford Maverick Ecosport for a week in the midwest and was surprised to see that it averaged almost 40 miles per gallon. The owner of the dealership said that most of the driving that day was done around town, so I took this to mean that the car was not really being pushed.

The highway mileage was a bit lower, but the owner said that the gas mileage is actually better than that. Here is my report: The car is a 5-speed automatic with about 3,500 miles on it. It has a 3.5 L V6 engine.

I drove from Chicago to Indianapolis to Cleveland to Dayton to Detroit to Pittsburgh to New York. I averaged 42.9 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway. This was by no means highway driving; the only time I drove above 50 mph was on the way to Cleveland.

I then drove from New York to Boston to Washington, D. To Philadelphia to Wilmington to Baltimore. I averaged 44.5 mpg. Again, this was highway driving.

I then drove from Baltimore to Richmond to Columbia to Asheville to Atlanta to New Orleans to Dallas. I averaged 38.7 mpg.

I then drove from Atlanta to Dallas to San Antonio to Austin to New Braunfels to Fort Worth to Oklahoma City to Houston to Austin. I averaged 35.2 mpg.

I then drove from Houston to Austin to San Antonio to New Braunfels to Fort Worth to Oklahoma City to Houston to Austin. I averaged 36.6 mpg.

I then drove from Austin to San Antonio to New Braunfels to Fort Worth to Oklahoma City to Houston to Austin. I averaged 40.1 mpg.9 mpg.3 mpg.

Is Maverick Lariat better than XLT?

Maverick is still the top of its class. The Lariat and XLT should perform similarly, but the advantage of the Lariat is that it's a larger/faster truck. It also does not need power steering so an additional gear cost can be passed on to that customer and if any of your dealers has a hydraulic pump in stock, they will offer to install it for a reasonable charge.

The XLT will be the better buy option to the average mechanic and it will outlast the Lariat, as they come from the same parts bin and it's just a matter of which one is on special at the moment.
