Can you trust sellers on Auto Trader?
Recommended Posts. There are 3-4 that won't sell for more than 50k.and I really need an MPV. I have tried some other dealers (from different websites) and every time they ask me to wait until I find my replacement car, which I can't afford to do. They are asking 4 times as much and don't even have a car like mine in stock. I don't have the time or patience to wait and the cars go fast! What should I do?

Share this post. Link to post. Share on other sites. I would recommend selling through Auto Trader. The majority of buyers will either be from within your local area or nearby - so you're selling to local people and thus less likely to have to chase the buyers down yourself - all very well if it's in a local area, but when it's an auction then you'd be trying to chase away buyers all around the country - so for a single buyer, it's not going to work well unless they live nearby.0i (and it's more than that in one place!) tells me that they're looking to unload the stock - and as the stock comes through as low as it is, dealers are losing out and thus it's best to be as aggressive as possible, especially if your car is near the end of its useful life and is going through a bit of the "downgrade" process (it used to be a good entry level car but it's now getting long in the tooth and you don't want to drive it anywhere) - a lot of money is being made on these sorts of things but the price is already falling like a stone.
I've sold a number of cars through auto trader in the past, and was told by multiple members that it was very easy to use, and it does help when you have a big amount of stock that needs moving quickly. If you're thinking of doing the auction route, remember to do your research well and also check with the seller how they want payments - most want at least 12 months and some want much longer (like 24 months). That'll be important if you want to move the car after auction day.
My first deal was for a 2.0i 1.
Can you set up alerts on Auto Trader?
Hi, I have been doing a lot of searching on the net to find out if you can set up alerts on Auto Trader. I am still learning, and looking for the right answers. I am trying to get a BMW X1, and was going to pay over 1000 to have it looked after by my local BMW dealer. But then I found out that on Auto Trader there is a car I am interested in. I have seen the advert on the main site and want to find out if the car is listed on the website. If it is listed can I set up alerts so that I get an email or SMS when it goes into auction? And if it is not listed on the website can I still set up alerts to find out when it goes into auction? Thank you in advance for any help. I appreciate it.
There is no way to set up alerts. It has to be done by the person bidding on it. It is possible to set up an alert for your own personal details but that is it. If the car doesn't have an advert on the website you'll need to have a phone call to check the status.
Yes you can set up alerts on Auto Trader. If the car has an advert on the site then you'll get an email notification when the auction ends. The reason you won't be able to get an alert is because you are only notified when the auction ends.
If it is not listed on the website can I still set up alerts to find out when it goes into auction?
How do I contact Auto Trader UK?
Auto Trader UK is easy to get in touch with. For the most part, you only have to do a quick Google search for Auto Trader to find the phone number you require. From there, you can call them up and leave your information (your vehicle, make and model, and any relevant information that might help them contact you). They will send you an email to confirm that they have received your request and contact you if they require more information. If you are unable to get hold of their office by telephone, try sending an email instead and ask them for their web address so that you can fill in their forms. To make this easier, you can sign up for their email service, giving them all your details including how to contact you so they're always on your radar.
When is a good time to contact Auto Trader UK? There is never really a best time to contact Auto Trader UK, except if you think your car or van might be repossessed. If this happens, call them up and give them all the details at once as well.
Will Auto Trader UK charge for anything? Don't worry about Auto Trader UK asking for money upfront. This is not something they usually do as they aim to give a service. There is one issue which you should be aware of. You might have heard that sometimes they will charge you 'administration costs' which they use to run their business. To avoid this, make sure that any contact details you put on your form aren't hidden behind a captcha so that visitors can't see them. If the captcha is on Auto Trader UK's form then they will be happy to talk with you, but you can never be certain what might happen. Even with a simple service such as an enquiry form, it's just a precaution that you should be aware of.
How will Auto Trader UK keep my information safe? If you have any questions at all about the safety of Auto Trader UK, call them up and ask them. This may take them by surprise, but you should get assurances from them that all personal information you give them is kept private and secure. Also, don't worry that you need to fill out their personal information on several different forms, as they'll make sure that each contact will only have your name and contact information.
Can you tell when a car was added to Auto Trader?
Yes, we can tell the date it was added to our website and the cars it has been added to. If you have a car that was only added to our site recently then it won't be added to our database until we've had a chance to process it. However if the car is one that has been in the database for quite some time, it will be added to our database and our search engine will be able to tell you when it was last updated.
How long does it take to add a car to Auto Trader? We'll process your car within 24 hours. If you'd like to speed up the process, please send an email to [email protected] with the details of the car you'd like to be added to our database.
I can't seem to get the "Click to add car" button to work. This is because we're using a 'flash' interface to allow you to view our cars. Can you tell if a car has been sold? Unfortunately no. We are unable to track the sale of cars on our website. However if you'd like us to check for you, please email [email protected] and we'll be happy to do it for you.
I'm a member of another Auto Trader website. Can I transfer my membership from that website to Auto Trader? We have a database of all the cars currently listed on our site and this is not linked to any other websites. We will also be selling some of our cars on eBay, which means that there's a chance that you may see a car that you bought one of the other Auto Trader websites on our site.
